‘State Titles September’ success
It was lauded as Football NSW’s ‘State Titles September’, and by word did it live up to its expectations as football fever swept the entire State with the likes of Griffith, Parkes, Mudgee and Glenwood soaking in the action.
Teams in the 12 Boys category assembled at Griffith’s Hanwood Oval to witness Met Far South take the Championship while Met East finished runners up. Riverina Branch grabbed the Country Title while Southern Branch finished second best.
The 15 Boys used Harrison Park as the official venue in Parkes as Met Far North proved too good for their opposition while Met West finished in second spot. Southern Branch bagged themselves the Country Title while Western Branch finished runners up.
The Glen Willow Sporting Complex in Mudgee featured the 12 and 14 Girls competitions in what was a great week for female football. Met West took out the 12 Girls category while Met East the 14 Girls clinched the Championship. Western Branch claimed the Country title in the 12 Girls while Riverina Branch the 14 Girls silverware.
While finally at Football NSW’s headquarters namely Valentine Sports Park, City South stole all the headlines with a magnificent tournament performance while City North finished a close second. Southern Branch claimed the Country Title while Riverina Branch finished in second spot.
Football NSW State Titles Coordinator Kim Burge was impressed with reports that the State Titles were deemed a huge success.
“From all reports all venues were very well received as was the football which was witnessed by many in various regional cities and towns across NSW.
“These Football NSW State Titles are conducted annually and are an essential part of the recognised Talented Player Pathway for State Team selections.
“We would like to congratulate all players, managers, officials, referees and the parents who played a key role in making these State Titles such a memorable experience.”
