Football NSW is pleased to announce a new partnership with Heartbeat of Football to increase awareness the importance of obtaining Health Checks, CPR training and the benefits of early defibrillation in the hope of reducing the incidence of unnecessary deaths in football.

In what is a historic agreement, both not-for-profit organisations will be working together to promote awareness of healthy hearts in sport through education which will be achieved through Heartbeat of Football linking with Football NSW clubs and associations to conduct Health Checks and CPR awareness sessions at grounds and special events.

Football NSW CEO, Stefan Kamasz, was delighted with the new partnership and believes that this agreement will assist in ensuring that the health and safety of players and officials remained Football NSW’s number one priority.

“In conjunction with our Pink Slip messaging, Football NSW looks forward to working closely with Heartbeat of Football to increase awareness around health checks and the importance of CPR to the broader football community.”

Heartbeat of Football CEO, Andy Paschalidis, the driving force behind the establishment of Heartbeat of Football in 2016 echoed Football NSW’s thoughts on ensuring players and officials were given as much information and assistance as possible in promoting healthy hearts in sport via player education.

"This is a landmark step for the game in NSW," Paschalidis said

"Heartbeat of Football encourages everyone to play our great game but in doing so they must first understand they are medically fit to do so safely. Together with Football NSW we can and will make a difference in creating a greater awareness but also encourage everyone involved in our great game to lead a healthier lifestyle."

Heartbeat of Football will be hosting its first fundraiser for 2017 titled ‘A Celebration of Women in Sport’, at the twilight race meeting on Friday, February 17 2017 at Canterbury Racecourse with several prominent female sport stars attending as well as the likes of Westfield Matilda’s star Teresa Polias, Hyundai A-League Boss Greg O’Rourke, swimming legend Susie Maroney and Tabcorp Presenter Jamiee Rogers and many more.
