Football Canterbury has announced that Anthony Bathurst has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the association.

A senior management professional with over 13 years’ experience at AMP, Bathurst brings proven success in developing high performing teams and involvement on many management committees.

Bathurst is a passionate supporter of football, having played for many years and managed teams in the Bankstown District and Football St George associations.

Currently a senior leader at AMP Wealth Management, Bathurst’s prior roles include organisations such as JPMorgan Worldwide Securities Services, Asteron Financial Services, and Bank of New York.

With a new chairman and two new directors, it is a time of change for Football Canterbury and newly elected chairman, Nick Kambounias, said Bathurst is the right person to lead the association as it goes into its second century.

“It gives me great pleasure to formally announce the appointment of Anthony Bathurst as our new CEO here at Football Canterbury,” said Kambounias.

“It was always going be a difficult task replacing someone with the experience and stature in our game such as Ian Holmes: he is virtually irreplaceable with his experience at local, state, and national level.

“However, with Football Canterbury closing off 100 years in 2022, a long and extensive process was necessary to find who we believe would be best suited to drive our association into the next 100 years.

“Anthony brings with him many years of executive experience which will be invaluable to our organisation especially in a time of significant change both at board level and in management.”

Bathurst said he was proud to lead one of the best associations in New South Wales.

“I am incredibly honoured and privileged to be appointed as the CEO of Football Canterbury,” said Bathurst.

“It is an exciting time for the sport at all levels with a significant opportunity to further develop and transform for the benefit of our community. Positioning the association for further growth, through a clear strategy and by actively pursuing and capitalising on opportunities, is of paramount importance in delivering a product that is inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable.

“I am delighted to accept the role and look forward to working closely with the board and staff of Football Canterbury, our members, and the various key partners and stakeholders of our game as we continue to build on the proud history and solid foundations of the association.”

Bathurst will commence his role on Tuesday 10 January 2023.
