AC United Football Club has recently become the 50th Football NSW club to achieve 1-star accreditation in the Club Changer program!

Club Changer is Football Australia’s Club Development Program, which aims to protect and enhance our clubs, make them stronger and more resilient, lead them in building welcoming and inclusive cultures, and educate them on positive environments for players, coaches, volunteers, and officials while planning for long term viability and success.

“AC United Football Club is thrilled to be part of the Club Changer program which helps formalise some of the activities the club has already been working on,” said club Secretary Giovanna Romeo.

“AC United appreciates the opportunity to work with Football NSW and Southern Districts Soccer Football Association who supported us to develop an Action Plan to guide sustainable growth in the Women & Girls space over the next 12-18 months.

“Completing the accreditation was quite a straightforward process, we spent 20 minutes completing the Women & Girls module and then worked closely with SDSFA & FNSW to devise an Action Plan.”

Club Changer, Football Australia’s new Club Development Program is funded through Legacy 23 (Pillar 1 – Participation) and is supported by the Australian Government through the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

“Club Changer was launched in February and Football NSW is excited to continue supporting clubs by building capacity, networks and education across the Women & Girls space, with the program aiming to improve the experience for women and girls, to support clubs with the expected growth in women & girls participation and to establish positive playing environments,” said Football NSW Program Manager – Club Development, Trevor Huxley.

“There are quality resources built into Club Changer, specifically designed to support club volunteers. Football Australia is committed to delivering webinars through the Club Changer network designed address key issues such as attracting and retaining volunteers.

“Twenty-two Football NSW clubs have been provided the opportunity to have some of their youth players participate in the FIFA Women’s World Cup as Flag bearers. Football Australia have also provided complimentary tickets to clubs engaged in the Club Changer program.”

1-star accreditation is achieved when clubs set up a Game Plan club profile, complete the Women & Girls module, and then work with FNSW’s Program Managers – Club development officers, Nathan Keys & Trevor Huxley to create a Women & Girls Action Plan.
