Football NSW’s Women in Football Scholarship Program is dedicated to identifying and nurturing female leaders through a range of capability-building initiatives. These programs are designed to educate, empower, and support women at every stage of their football journey. Our goal is to provide opportunities for women to develop, grow, and excel in their respective fields within the football community.
Coach Education
Coach Education Scholarships
Football NSW is excited to offer partial scholarships for advanced coaching courses specifically for female coaches. These scholarships are designed to enhance the qualifications and skills of female coaches across NSW, fostering greater representation and expertise in the field.
Partial scholarships are available for the following courses:
- AFC/FA C Diploma
- AFC/FA B Diploma
- AFC/FA A Diploma
- AFC/FA Goalkeeping Diploma
- AFC/FA Level 1 Futsal Certificate
Please note that completion of the Foundation of Football course is a prerequisite for the C Diploma, as required by Football Australia. For more information about the Foundation of Football course, click here or contact your local association.

Future Female Coaches Mentoring Program
This exclusive program is designed for female coaches who hold a minimum AFC ‘B’ Diploma and are actively working within Football NSW Talented Player Pathway competitions.
Six coaches will be selected for this inaugural cohort, offering a unique opportunity to enhance their development and career progression within elite football environments.
Participants in the program will be paired with experienced mentors who will provide tailored support throughout the season.
Each coach will receive:
- Three in-person mentoring visits where mentors will observe coaching sessions and fixtures to provide hands-on guidance and deliver direct feedback in a real-world environment.
- Regular online meetings, offering ongoing support, reflection opportunities, and strategic development planning.
The Future Female Coaches Mentoring Program is proudly funded by the NSW Office of Sport’s NSW Football Legacy Program and the CommBank Growing Football Fund.
This initiative forms part of Football NSW’s broader commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and high-performance pathways for women in football.
By investing in the development of female coaches at the highest levels, the program seeks to build a stronger and more diverse coaching community that reflects the evolving face of the game.

Female Grassroots Coaches Mentoring Program
Football NSW has proudly announced the launch of the Grassroots Female Coaches Mentoring Program, a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting and empowering female grassroots coaches across New South Wales.
This innovative program is proudly supported by the NSW Office of Sport through the NSW Football Legacy Program and the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care’s Play Our Way Program.
The Grassroots Female Coaches Mentoring Program is designed to provide aspiring female coaches within Community Football Clubs expert mentorship opportunities, helping them enhance their skills, confidence, and leadership within the game.
The program will feature in-person mentoring visits from experienced coaching professionals, offering personalized guidance and practical advice tailored to each coach’s development needs.
In addition, participants will gain access to a range of development opportunities, including workshops, networking events, and online resources, all aimed at fostering growth and leadership in grassroots football.
Key highlights of the program include:
- One-on-one in-person mentoring visits with seasoned coaching experts
- Access to exclusive workshops and development sessions
- Networking opportunities with fellow female coaches
- Ongoing support and resources to enhance coaching capabilities
Football Associations will nominate candidates, with selected coaches set to commence the program mid-year.
Interested coaches are encouraged to contact your Football Association Coach Education or Football Manager to register your interest.
Fast Track for Female Coaches
Delivered by Sport NSW, the Fast Track for Female Coaches connects aspiring female coaches from a range of sports, providing exclusive insights and further develops their coaching and leadership behaviours and competencies.
Successful applicants will have opportunities to further build capability, confidence, and readiness as they fast track through the coaching talent pathway. In 2025, two streams of the course are available. This new offering model caters for community coaches through an online model, led by leading industry facilitators and the Fast Track Program for Pathways Coaches that is designed to support coaches who are on a coaching talent or elite level program. This course is an in person course. Workshops will run during evenings and will be delivered by ACPE academics plus industry leading experts and experienced coaches from a variety of backgrounds.
Course Cost: FREE with a Women in Football Scholarship (successful scholarship applicants will receive financial assistance equal to the course fee)
Female Coach Education Tutor (CET)
Football NSW is seeking interested female coaches to become Foundation of Football (FOF) Coach Education Tutors (CET).
Delivered within Football Associations, CETs have the ability to deliver Foundation of Football courses and will be reimbursed at a rate of $350 per course. Each course will involve two CETs — one serving as Lead CET and the other as Support CET.
Interested candidates who meet the below criteria are invited to apply. This application cycle, the minimum coaching qualification required is a valid AFC/FA C Diploma or higher
Application Process:

- All nominees must complete the online application and submit the required documentation.
- Applicants will be interviewed online by Football NSW in July 2025.
- A mandatory 2-day CET training workshop will be held on 2–3 August 2025 at Valentine Sports Park. All successful applicants must attend and FNSW will assist with funding accommodation on site at VSP.
Assessment Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated by the Football Australia Technical Department and the Football NSW Coach Education Team, with consideration given to:
- Valid AFC/FA C Diploma (minimum requirement)
- Child safeguarding credentials
- First Aid certification
- Resume and relevant coaching experience
- Cover letter outlining the applicant’s motivation to become a CET
Please be aware that submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the CET program. Applications must be completed to a high standard — this includes answering all questions, submitting all required documentation, and providing valid credentials. Incomplete or substandard applications will be automatically declined, and no information will be retained. Individuals will need to reapply should they wish to be considered in future application cycles.
