Super Youth League Round 2 Preview

yes_01

There were some very interesting results this week but it is still far too early to look at the competition table seriously. Those tables will not really begin to make sense until at least Round 5.
Club Championship
Spirit FC picked up twelve points at home to Blacktown Spartans and Central Coast Lightning also pocketed a dozen points when they hosted Granville Rage.
Sydney University must have been very pleased with the ten points they took from their visit to Dulwich Hill while Macarthur Rams pinched nine points from their trip to Western Panthers.
PCYC Parramatta grabbed nine points at home to Schofields Scorpions while Mounties Wanderers and Northern Tigers shared the spoils at seven apiece.
Grade 13
Spirit FC have perfect record after they accounted for Blacktown Spartans with a 2-0 scoreline while Central Coast Lightning also made it two wins from as many games when they posted a 3-1 victory over Granville Rage. Sydney University complete the trio teams to have made an ideal start following their 3-2 win over Dulwich Hill.
Western Panthers suffered a 2-1 loss to Macarthur Rams while Schofields Scorpions were 3-0 winners over PCYC Parramatta.
Northern Tigers and Mounties Wanderers were reportedly very evenly matched throughout the first half with chances falling in equal measure for the teams. The Tigers drew first blood just one minute before the break when a low shot from just inside the penalty area squeezed under the Mounties? goalkeeper to find the net. Then the Mounties fought back and found an equaliser midway through the second stanza when a shot from E. Gonzalez found the top corner. Moments later an excellent passing move on the right opened an opportunity for A. Berrell and he gave the Mounties the lead for the first time in the game. However, the Tigers were not about to give up and they secured a share of the points when a quickly taken free kick, moments before the final whistle, resulted and a shot that took the final score to 2-2.
Grade 14
Spirit FC continued from where they had left off last week to post their second win, this time a 2-1 result over Blacktown Spartans while Western Panthers are the other team with a perfect record after they produced a 2-0 victory over Macarthur Rams.
Central Coast Lightning remained unbeaten when they recorded a 4-1 success over Granville Rage and Dulwich Hill are also without a loss following their 1-0 win over Sydney University.
Northern Tigers were another team to maintain an undefeated status after they accounted for Mounties Wanderers with a 2-1 scoreline. Apparently, the Mounties dominated the early stages but were unable to find the target and they were made to pay for that. The Tigers had a more positive look about them in the second period and they gained the upper hand with two goals before the Mounties staged a late rally but B. Younan?s strike was not enough.
Schofields Scorpions bounced back from last week?s loss to register a win by the odd goal in five over PCYC Parramatta.
Grade 15
Spirit FC are the only team in this age group with a perfect record after they were 6-1 winners over Blacktown Spartans while Dulwich Hill are still unbeaten following their scoreless draw with Sydney University.
Northern Tigers produced a 2-0 victory over Mounties Wanderers and PCYC Parramatta came up with a 2-0 success when they faced Schofields Scorpions.
Granville Rage were 2-1 winners over Central Coast Lightning and Macarthur Rams took the points when they defeated Western Panthers 1-0.
Grade 16
PCYC Parramatta made it two wins from as many matches when they were 3-0 winners over Schofields Scorpions while Blacktown Spartans also maintained a perfect record when they produced a 1-0 win over Spirit FC.
Mounties Wanderers managed to take the points with a 2-1 win over Northern Tigers despite losing two players to the dreaded red card and Macarthur Rams earned the points with a win over Western Panthers by the odd goal in seven.
Central Coast Lightning were a bit too good for Granville Rage as they ran out 3-0 winners while that scoreline was repeated when Sydney University overcame Dulwich Hill with Eddy providing all three goals for Uni.
Grade 18
So far, four teams have managed to post a perfect record of wins in both games played.
PCYC Parramatta posted an impressive 7-1 result over Schofields Scorpions, Western Panthers downed Macarthur Rams by the odd goal in seven, Spirit FC were a bit too good for Blacktown Spartans with a 4-2 scoreline and Sydney University were 3-2 winners over Dulwich Hill.
In the other matches, Central Coast Lightning accounted for Granville Rage with a 2-0 result and Mounties Wanderers produced a 2-0 victory over Northern Tigers. Reportedly, the tigers started the match strongly but they were continually denied by the Mounties? goalkeeper. The Mounties then found another gear and they were rewarded when N. Ackaoui found the net with a swerving free kick from thirty-five metres. That player also had a hand in the second goal when his free kick from the sideline found R. Loucos at the far post and there was to be no mistake. The Tigers rallied again but they were once again denied many times by some fine goalkeeping.
