VALE: Ron Garvin

Ron?s involvement and contribution to football spanned over 50 years.  
Having played and refereed in the early days, Ron went on to coach many successful Western Branch teams and managed numerous Country State teams, always working to improve player pathways for country footballers.   
Ron was well regarded in Western region holding the position of Western Branch Secretary for four years until being elected as Western Branch President in 1998, a position he held until 2007.   
During this time Ron was also Western Branch delegate and Board Member of NSWASF until unification in 2003 at which time he became a member of the Council of Associations Executive Committee.     
In recognition of his tremendous contribution to the game, Ron was awarded a Football NSW State Award in 2003 and Life Membership of Football NSW in 2007 before making a sea change with his wife Deirdre to Grafton a few years ago.  
In recent times Ron?s involvement and love of the game continued as Committee member and then as President of the North Coast Football Association (NNSWF).
