Football NSW continues to develop stronger ties with over 50,000 players in Schools Football

Football NSW is building stronger relationships with the Schools Football system after an inaugural meeting was held at Valentine Sports Park on Monday 27th May.
School’s Football programs in weekly competitions (mid week and weekend) , knock out competitions and various State Championships impact nearly 50,000 boys and girls across Primary, Secondary, Public, Catholic and Independent schools
Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore along with senior Football NSW Staff members met with representatives of various School’s Football network to discuss developing relationships, supporting the school’s football programs, aligning of calendars, managing talented player workload, player identification, facilities as well as coach and referee education.
“Football NSW is keen on making stronger connections to all schools and it has highlighted this as a major priority in 2013 and beyond.
“A significant number of participants – both boys and girls in Primary and Secondary levels – engage in football at their schools every week and we want to ensure that Football NSW is able to assist in their development as players, coaches and referees continuing to enjoy the world game.”
“Working with the existing Schools football community we are ensuring the experience of these players remains a positive one and those not already playing in regular club football are able to make that connection.”
“Football is easily the largest of the organised Schools sports across the State and both Football NSW and Northern NSW football are seeking to support the programs and initiatives of all these groups.

The Football NSW Game Development Department currently delivers a Futsal Schools Championships involving our 9,000 students, Schools 5 A-side Gala Days, 4 week development programs as well as Futsal Schools clinics.

Football NSW has also initiated further coach education programs in providing courses with the NSW Institute of teachers, Premier’s  Sporting Challenge, various tertiary institutions as well as supporting the annual Combined High Schools and PSSA State programs. This investment is educating current and future teachers is grassroots football and refereeing will strengthen those involved in the delivery of programs across NSW.

With the current Valentine Sports Park re-development commencing in July this year and scheduled to re-open in August 2014, Football NSW is looking at hosting up and coming schools  event sand championships at is Glenwood headquarters.
