VALE – Karl Posselt

It is with much regret that Football NSW advises that Mr Karl Posselt of Far South Coast Football Association has passed away after a short illness.  Karl has been involved in football in Southern NSW for over 30 years where he invested much of his time into the development of our great game.
Such was Karl’s passion for football he held various committee roles including President of Far South Coast Association and Treasurer of Southern Branch and was well known as convenor of the Johs Amundsen Perpetual Trophy which attracted teams from all over Australia and New Zealand.   Renowned for his dedication to the development of junior players in the region, Karl also worked hard to organise and raise funds each year so that the FSC squads were able to travel to Tasmania to compete in the annual Launceston Football Tournament, an arrangement that Karl had put in place with Northern Tasmania Junior Soccer Association over 20 years ago.
In recognition of his services to football the local Merimbula Youth Tournament was named the Karl Posselt Cup and his outstanding contribution to football in NSW was formally recognised in 1992 when he was presented with a prestigious State Award.    He was certainly a great character and he will be sorely missed.  Our deepest condolences to his family and all of his friends at the Far South Coast Football Association and FNSW Southern Branch.
