Canterbury District Soccer Football Association members Armando Gardiman awarded Member AM in the General Division and Ron Royston awarded Medal OAM in the General Division were honoured for their achievements on Australia Day.

A lawyer by trade, Gardiman, a current director at CDSFA, held down positions as the Association’s senior Vice-President as well as heading their Disciplinary and Appeals Tribunal for a number of years.

He also acted as the Chairman for the Football NSW Appeals Tribunal and was also the Member of the General Purposes Tribunal along with being the Disciplinary and Appeal Tribunal Chairman.

Gardiman also played an influential role in helping people impacted by the diseases caused by exposure to asbestos.

Royston too has played a critical and significant role in the sport of football.

A former President of the Marrickville Football Club, Royston spent over fifty-years at the one club and expended the majority of his life promoting and developing his beloved club in the Inner West area.

Finally, Football Federation of Australia CEO David Gallop was also appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his significant services to sports administration through executive roles with football and rugby league organisations as well as the community.

Football NSW would like to congratulate all three men on their respective awards which are merited.
