The traditional winter football season may have finished however at Bankstown Association District Soccer Football Association’s Revesby Workers FC, football is still on the cards as 45 MiniRoos players took part in their first post-season MiniRoos Kick Off program.
Hosted on Milperra Reserve, 45 juniors enjoyed their off-season by learning new skills, meeting new friends and enjoying their time in the sun (and rain) with a football at their feet.
Most players currently play for Revesby Workers FC however Program Leaders Maria & Fran Martino are excited by the new faces that have signed up to take part in the program.
Revesby Workers FC registered to be a MiniRoos Kick Off program deliverer to provide a place for their strong junior player based to continue playing during the post season as well as providing the chance for children new to football to try the world game for the first time in a positive and comfortable environment.
Ed Ferguson, Football NSW MiniRoos Manager was on hand and reflected the thoughts of the Martino’s sisters.
“Revesby Workers FC are providing the perfect opportunity for kids that have never played football, or other sports, to be welcomed in, meet new friends and enjoy playing with a football at their feet.
“It is clear that enjoyment is key at this MiniRoos Kick Off program, as it should be around the nation, with all the children taking part in fun and engaging games throughout the hour and leaving sweaty, puffing and with a huge grin on their faces”.
The fantastic program is supported by a very committed and community minded group of coaches who all play within Revesby Workers FC during the winter season.
Fran Marino is the chief on the ground and the organisation that Fran and her team of coaches show is brilliant and something for other grassroots coaches to learn from.
Ferguson was particularly impressed with the colour coordination of the groups, making it easy for the players, coaches and parents to identify where they will be training and playing for that session.
