Camden Council held its first football specific forum on Tuesday 29 November at Camden Civic Centre for all football clubs in the Camden Council area.

The Council recently held an all sports forum with all sporting clubs and associations in the Camden area, and from that the football specific forum was born.

Six of the nine football clubs within the boundaries of Camden Council attended the first forum and were able to discuss football specific topics with Camden Council.

Macarthur Football Association (MFA) General Manager, Glenn Armstrong, Camden Council staff from the Sport and Recreation department and Football NSW Facilities Funding and Delivery Coordinator, Daniel Ristic attended and presented some valuable information for all parties.

Football NSW Facilities Funding and Delivery Coordinator acknowledged Camden Council’s effort in putting together the forum, “the football forum is a great initiative by Camden Council and provides the large and growing football community in the Camden area a fantastic voice to ensure facilities in the area are of a suitable standard moving forward”.

The forum looked at the strategic direction of football in the Camden Council area and how council, local clubs, the association and Football NSW can all work together to ensure football grows and develops as the population in Camden grows as well. Camden’s population is expected to almost triple in the next 20 years.

Football looks forward to working with all local councils including Camden Council to ensure the most popular sport in NSW with 765,00 participants, and a registered player base 22% larger than all other football codes combined, is able to improve and grow football facilities for the broader community.

Camden Council will look to run further football specific forums in 2017 and the future which is exciting for the football clubs in the Camden area.
