A better sporting future in the Northern Suburbs
Sporting clubs came together at the Ku-rin-gai Sports Forum on Monday, 15th May to discuss issues relating to sports, facilities and active living in the community.
Over 40 club members from a variety of different sports attended and listened to presentations from the NSW Office and Sport regarding grant funding opportunities and council recreation and planning team discussing existing projects recently completed in the 2016/2017 financial year, along with future projects for the 2017/2018 capital works program.
Some of the attendees ranged from the Ku-rin-gai Council Mayor, Jennifer Anderson and Member for Kuringai, Alister Henskens to name a few.
As one of the key note speakers, Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA), Facilities and Club Development Officer, Paul Orgad presented on working with stakeholders and the role the association plays in building upon key relationships with councils and locals MP’s.
Crucial to facilities upgrades is the amount of investment made by council and the political buy in from clubs and local State and Federal MP’s.
Orgad highlighted the importance of sharing information through various forms of communication opportunities with key stakeholders to keep them up to date with developments and have them involved in various activities undertaken throughout the year. Orgad also went onto speak about who Northern Suburbs Football Association are, the challenges they face, progress made and what their key deliverables are.
There was also an opportunity to speak to a panel of key council workers who effectively deliver the capital works program for council.
Various key questions were asked such as co sharing facilities with schools, sports ground strategies, how to work with council to establish a venue upgrade on their capital works program, what processes do council go through to grade their fields and what projects councils are working on going forward.
Northern Suburbs Football Association would like to take this opportunity to thank Ku-rin-gai Council for their ongoing support and facilities upgrades for clubs.
This has been a contributing factor in supporting better playing experiences and providing quality venues that the wider community can participate in organised sport.
