Gladesville Hornsby Football Association club Thornleigh Thunder’s Under 10s were treated to a special visit from Football NSW Coach Education Manager Oscar Gonzalez who put together a training session via an invitation from team coach Nathan Reid.

After conducting a recent coaching workshop at Macquarie University on behalf of Gladesville Hornsby Football Association, the Thornleigh Thunder’s coach posed the question to Gonzalez whether he would undertake a special session for his side.

“At the end of the workshop, Nathan, a regular attendee, advised that he coaches up to 18 players weekly at the Rockets and that’s where I offered to come and conduct a session in a real environment to help paint the picture of what could be done with the players.

“This came off the back of Nathan’s comment on when using GHFA representative players that it is a lot easier and the numbers are smaller than what he has.

“Its coaches like Nathan that make it possible for young players to play and enjoy the game week to week and year to year – he is a very enthusiastic man who wants the best for his players.”

Reid was delighted with how the evening unfolded and was eagerly anticipating another training session.

“Our Under 10 Thornleigh Thunder team had an absolute blast at our training session.

“The session Oscar ran for the kids was brilliant!

“On behalf of Thornleigh Thunder and the Under 10 Reds we all just want to say thanks again for all Oscar’s help and can only hope we get the opportunity to have him back again one day.”
