A Busy Year For Australian Schools’ Teams

Each year our young footballers have the opportunity to follow a FFA recognised pathway through our school system.

Players selected in Australian Schoolboys and Schoolgirls teams may have gone through as many as four selection processes on their way to selection, all of these processes organised by various education bodies and supervised by schoolteachers.

There have been three overseas tours for our Australian squads in 2019.

In January, the 16 Years and Under Australian Schoolboys toured the United Kingdom and Ireland.

They were accompanied on this tour by a 19 Years and Under Australian Schoolboys squad, the two squads travelling together and often playing similar opposition, although from different age groups. The tours provided tremendous learning experiences for our young players. Details of these tours can be found on these web pages:

In April, the 18 Years and Under Australian Schoolgirls returned to the United States of America for a second attempt to win the highly prestigious Dallas International Girls Cup.

In 2018, the Australian Schoolgirls were beaten in the semi finals.

This year’s squad won the tournament, a tremendous achievement. Full details of the tour can be found on this web page:
