In an amazing step towards supporting its local community this week, Lithgow City Council have reduced Lithgow District Football Association’s ground rental fees for the 2020 season by 50 per cent.

Lithgow District teams all use the Marjorie Jackson Oval facility for its home matches as well as training sessions on a weekly basis.

All club competitions were suspended earlier in the year due to the COVID-19 lockdown on the sport in a bid to reduce the spread, but community football returned albeit in a condensed format allowing the world game to be played once again half-way through the year.

Under Lithgow City Council’s current 2019/2020 fees and charges, the local Association would normally be charged a total of $2824 for the hire including the lighting at Marjorie Jackson Oval for their season long competition and training.

When choosing to reduce the fees by 50 percent, Council included the option to retain the 100 percent fee for the bond to retain asset security at the Oval.

This follows on from the news that Bathurst Regional Council also voted to waive the Parks and Gardens Active Spaces Community Groups user fees which saw the local association save more than $10,000 this year.
