Football St George is chomping at the bit to see their members back on the park in 2022.

Having recently hired former Capital Football CEO and vastly experienced administrator Phil Brown as General Manager, the Association is well placed to build on the foundations laid in recent years, as it looks to bring its members back to the park in 2022.

“Grassroots football has always, and continues to be, a fundamental part of my personal and professional life,” Brown said following his appointment.

“I look forward to joining Football St George in 2022 and hope to share the experience and knowledge I have developed through my time with the Asian Football Confederation, Football Australia, Football NSW and Capital Football to continue the great work done by the Association, Clubs, and Referees Branch to provide opportunity for all people to play football.”

After a disrupted 2021, football in the region will be back bigger and better in 2022, with a club, team and competition for players of all genders, abilities and ages.

Football St George provided registration fee rebates in 2021, and acknowledging the continued impact of the pandemic on the community, have not increased the Association registration fees in 2022, which remain the same as those set in 2020.

Home to over 10,400 players, 23 clubs and 1,800 volunteers, referees and coaches, the Association aspires to grow on an incredibly strong player base across all age groups.

In recent years significant growth has been seen in women’s football within the Association. With the FIFA Women’s World Cup arriving on Australian shores in 2023, that growth is expected to continue, driven by initiatives including female summer football competitions, winter social leagues, the introduction of over 30’s divisions, and delivery of coach education and mentoring programs.

Of course, Football St George is a great sporting home for men and boys as well as for female footballers.

Whether you are six or 60, there’s a space for you.
