Female Football Week

Female Football Week is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the immense growth of women’s football at all levels of the game and acknowledge and promote the important role women play in developing football.

The objective of Female Football Week is to drive female participation at all levels of the game.

2025 Female Football Week will be held from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 11th.

Throughout the week Football NSW and our Associations/Clubs will be actively involved in the delivery of female football events including:

  • Female Football Rounds
  • Come + Try Sessions
  • Free Skills Clinics
  • Festival of Football

Female Football Week Awards

The Female Football Week Awards provide a valuable opportunity to recognise and celebrate the significant contributions of women and girls in football, highlighting the vital role they play in all aspects of the game. Now is the time to celebrate the exceptional female champions within your club by nominating them for one of the following categories:

  • Female Player of the Year
  • Female Coach of the Year
  • Female Referee of the Year
  • Female Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Champion of the Year

Each category winner will receive a prize and will be nominated as Football NSW’s representative for the National Female Football Week Awards.

To celebrate Female Football Week, we invite Associations and Clubs to register your events.

By registering your come and try sessions, MiniRoos gala days, coaching courses, referee courses, mentoring events, schools’ gala days, Football NSW can advertise your event and support your event where possible.

Each female role model will have their photo, name, and role featured on individual stakes, forming an inspiring display for everyone attending. We will also create a Tunnel / Wall of Inspirational Messages, where female players from Picton Rangers and visiting clubs can share encouraging words and stories. This will be a powerful visual showing how we are a united club that supports one another and is proud to have so many amazing girls and women as part of Picton Rangers. As part of our celebrations, we are proud to recognise the appointment of our first-ever female president in the history of Picton Rangers F.C. , Shauna Mazuran. She is a true inspiration for girls to look up to, showing that women can lead, achieve and shape the future of football! With Football Australia & Football NSW certified coaches, this program will result in an improvement in physical health, academic achievement, social interactivity, community development, pride, and improved emotional/psychological health through organised activities. There are many strategies that Wagga Futsal have implemented and additional strategies through this program include: * Promotion of an all inclusive safe sporting club & environment where females play sport and fitness is part of the family routine, playing together with their siblings and at times with older female relations. * Providing a dedicated Monday night for girls only training to help girls find time in their daily/weekly schedule to participate in physical activity which in turn will result in improved mood, increased energy and self confidence, improved academic application and more focused mentally and socially. We intend to run social media campaigns, come and try events, schools and girl friend networks resulting in friends word of mouth communication to have fun with friends playing at gala days and region pathways events when the players successfully transition to competitions. The Head Coach is now a Certified Football Australia Futsal Level 1 Coach and Instructor, trusted by the community and is able to bring in accredited coaches and outsourcing of external professional female coaches from FNSW to deliver additional professional, appropriate sessions to the girls.
