Football NSW’s ‘Home of Football’ Valentine Sports Park was a hive of activity as it played host to the inaugural Junior Development Cup on the 16th and 17th of July.

Over fifty teams from around NSW took part across the competition categories, with well over 1000 attendees soaking in the sights and sounds of quality youth football being played.

After more than 100 hard-fought matches were played, the inaugural Junior Development Cup Champions were crowned with St George City (U10 Mixed), Macarthur Rams (U11 Girls), Southern Districts SFA (U12 Mixed) and Girls with Goals Football (U13 Girls) taking out their respective titles.

Football NSW’s Player Development Manager – Juniors, Neil Mann, was delighted with how the event came to life.

“The purpose of the Junior Development Cup is to give our developing boys and girls a different matchday environment and to compete for a trophy, offering a number of learning opportunities for both the players and coaching staff,” he said.

“Over the two days, it was great to see how the players adapted to the challenge and we saw some fantastic individual skill on display, showcasing the importance of the relationship between the player and the ball.

“Equally important was the social side and it was great to see the sportsmanship and team spirit not only between the squads but also between the various clubs.

“Thanks to all those who attended and we look forward to seeing you at future events.”

Football NSW would also like to thank ISCA and Optimise Sports Physio for supplying first aid and helping on the day as well as the Kellyville Kolts for providing Game Leaders and Referees.
