Premier Youth League Panel referees ready to launch
In a great sign for aspiring referees, over 60 were present where they received some top class gear which included a bag, cap, polo shirt, spray jacket, a set of black shirt and shorts and sox and one set of alternate strips.
These strips were supplied by Football NSW which has shown the huge commitment they have thrown towards the referees of this state.
One thing?s for sure, referees will surely gain a lot of attention this year, especially with the new full fluoro yellow strip similar to what the Italian Serie A officials wear in Italy today.
The referee State Technical Committee of Steve Fenech, Sharon O?Neill, John Parker and Simon Micallef
have worked hard to putting this group from referee branches all over Sydney and Central Coast.
A Former FIFA referee, Micallef spoke to the group about the commitment needed in becoming a fully fledged FIFA whistleblower and the possibility of one-day officiating in a World Cup.
On the evening, Football NSW Director George Jackson addressed the Panel while Football NSW General Manager Ian Holmes presented each member with a specially struck coin.
Football NSW?s Referee Manager Craig McCallum was delighted with the evening which promoted future official stars.
?They are a very excited group looking forward to the future which I believe will see a number of them progress towards bigger and better things.
?On-going training will of course be given to this group throughout the season but there have been a number of positives which has put us in good stead in the refereeing department.?
