Cobblers to the Sharks!
Moving on to play for Wollongong Wolves youth teams, in a true hotbed area for the code, at the age of thirteen he progressed on to the NSW Academy where another 2-years were spent honing his silky skills.
Preferring to play at either right centre-back or right back, he describes his left peg as; ?The one I stand on,? accompanied by a stifled laugh.
?It would be great to be two-footed but you have to be honest sometimes,? he adds.
Many wonderful times have been spent playing the game, both at home and overseas, and all have brought with them some great memories as he recalls: ?I have very fond memories of playing with Parramatta Power in the old NSL and with Sydney Olympic in the leagues final year.
?They were good times for me,? he concludes.
When asked about new General Manager, Allan McNair he offers: ?Al is a good bloke, knows his stuff and is great to have around. He knew Bomber; Sharks coach Brian Brown, from his days in Scotland and is a helpful guy.?
But what of Pedj?s time spent overseas?
?I was at Northampton Town for three years and in the final one we played in what is now called League One.
?It?s a different game overseas but I am glad I went. It?s an eye-opener for sure. The people in the town were fantastic and Sixfields Stadium is a terrific little ground (so named because that is the area of land it took to build. They don?t muck about in Northamptonshire you know!).?
Back to Australia and now enjoying his first season at Sutherland Sharks, Bojic has a ready wit and seems genuinely ready to have a laugh with one and all. A disarming man to chat with but yet another defender you really don?t want to mess with..
Bojic is pinning his hopes on hopefully scoring a contract in the A-League for the up and coming season with the likes of the Wellington Phoenix and the Central Coast Mariners said to be hot on the heels of the talented defender.
?It?s certainly one of my goals and I hope to get something out of the TeleChoice Premier League with a contract in the A-League.
?But until then, I will do all that I can to assist the Sharks in playing finals football this year.?
So, from Northampton Town to Sutherland Sharks really is ?Cobblers to the Sharks? purely and simply because Northampton Town are known as ?the Cobblers? and due to the fact the rural retreat became synonymous with shoe making throughout the UK, hence the nickname, so don?t forget; it is a case of Cobblers to and all!
