Former Rover Porter lends support to Gala Day

The Gala Day was an ideal atmosphere for Porter to put something back into the club that initially provided him with the surrounds to develop into one of the Central Coast’s finest young footballers.
Porter spent the day signing autographs for the competing players, as well as helping out with coaching tips where he could.
With hundreds of Hyundai A-League aspirants seeking glory on the day, Porter’s presence was a fitting example of the pathway that is now in place for Central Coast players hoping to one day wear the yellow and navy of the Mariners.
Porter?s visit was part of the Mariners’ club ambassador program, whereby each of the Central Coast’s 22 local clubs are allocated one Mariners player to assist with official club events and functions throughout the course of the regular season.
Kanwal Warnervale Gala Day Co-ordinator Brett McEvoy praised Porter’s efforts and spoke of the importance of him being there on the day.
“We know that the Mariners have to get out there in the community but from our experience with Brad as our club ambassador, they are always willing to go beyond the call of duty,” said McEvoy.
“Brad being formally a player here immediately draws a connection with the kids and they can see themselves being just like him one day which is great for them and helps us retain players.
“The Mariners and Brad personally have gained a new legion of young fans just by him being there on Sunday.
“Thanks to Brad and the Mariners for all they do for the community.”
