Southern Districts clubs meet the challenge as $14,000 raised

southern

Thanks to the generosity and great support from all 27 Association Clubs and their Members plus sponsorship from Club Marconi, Balmain Commercial and PSS Sports, the amount raised has exceeded all expectations.
250 children aged from 5 years to 8 years snatched the opportunity to play Mini Soccer on the main pitch at Marconi Stadium in front of a large crowd to offer their support for raising funds for cancer research.
These matches were followed by the main match where every club was represented in the Balmain Commercial Charity Cup, Liverpool – Fairfield Challenge Match.
Liverpool won the inaugural Cup Match 3 goals to 2 in a thrilling and evenly played encounter between players from Member Clubs of the both cities.
The event will now be played on an annual basis with the same representation criteria followed to allow for the full support of all Member Clubs.
Now that the pledges have been received the organisers have proudly announced their total and expect even greater support for next year?s challenge.
$7,000 will be donated to the Cancer Council of New South Wales for each of the two campaigns ?Pink Ribbon Day? and ?Call To Arms? which will equally represent both the Women?s and Men?s side of our game.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the fundraiser, Southern Districts Soccer Family and Friends take a bow.
A list of contributors and sponsors will be placed on the Southern Districts website within a few days. www.sdsfa.com
