Rockdale City Suns shining bright for the future

Popular Rockdale City Suns Secretary, Louie Belevski, together with President Zak Agioski and the hard working Executive Committee are delighted to have seen the club undertake this new and exciting venture together with Rockdale City Council and Boyd Developments. Commenting on the development Louie Belevski said
?We are proud and excited with the new facilities being constructed, the whole football community can only benefit from these modern and contemporary facilities.
?The Rockdale City Suns Football Club needed relocate from its current facilities to allow for a major development to be built Rockdale City Council and the Club reached on an agreement to be relocated to other grounds.
?The new grounds are Bicentennial Park South in Rockdale and Bicentennial Park East in Brighton Le-Sands.
?Both Grounds will be leased from the Rockdale City Council for 21 years. The main football ground for the senior element of the club and the three grounds for our junior teams are currently being purpose built for football.
?Bicentennial Park South in Rockdale is only 1km south from the current facility, it will contain the new club house facilities and amenities building and the main field for the senior and under 20 teams together with our elite youth league sides.
?The main field currently has lighting that will be improved as part of the construction; however the club has a pre approved development application to install 4 new lighting towers with 48 state of the art lights. In addition the approval also allows for seating to be covered minimum 500 seats.
?The main field will have new under ground irrigation and water reticulation system with a high quality and robust turf laid. The new amenities building will have an elevated press box, large change rooms for both home and the away team, large referee rooms with showers.?
In terms of the Suns? other project at Brighton Le-Sands, Belevski stated.
?Bicentennial Park East in Brighton Le-Sands will have 2 full size fields and 1 smaller field.
?This area will be for the juniors of the club. The fields there will all have modern water irrigation system and high quality turf surfaces. There is also an amenities Building housing two change rooms, a modern canteen and a store room. The fields will all have lighting that will be suitable for training.
?There is a foot bridge that connects both Bicentennial Park South and East. The huge car park at Bicentennial Park South is opposite the footbridge which will allow all easy access to both Grounds.?
Asked when the development will be completed, Belevski stated to Football NSW that it would be done by mid-February 2009.
?The contractor has signed an agreement to have all works completed by mid February 2009. This will allow the Rockdale City Suns to kick off the new 2009 Super League Season at its new Ground.?
Football NSW CEO Michael Quarmby and General Manager Ian Holmes recently visited the site to review the work which had been undertaken to date.
Commenting on his observations following the site inspection, Football NSW CEO Michael Quarmby said;
?I would like to congratulate Rockdale City Suns on their planning and skilful negotiations with Rockdale Council and Boyd Developments. They are putting in place the facility infrastructure which is going to provide longevity for the Club.
?I was very excited to eye-witness the current development at Bicentennial Park. The Club has obviously thought through its future and understood the need to have facilities which cater for their elite teams in Football NSW Competitions and for their nursery teams participating in the St. George Association.
?The fact the Club has been able to facilitate aligning its premises and football ground infrastructure on adjoining properties demonstrates great foresight by the club and its commercial supporters. I had the opportunity to speak with the current Board, headed up by Zak Agioski, together with many of the Club?s stalwart supporters and sponsors and could see the energy and excitement they are all feeling as part of this project.
?As the project heads towards completion, the Club can truly demonstrate it has provided a player pathway to service all the juniors? right through to their professional players.? Quarmby stated.
The Rockdale City Suns Football Club has made its intentions clear. It wants to regain top league status and to be part of the Football NSW TeleChoice Premier League Competition.
The Club has begun well by appointing 2008 Super League Coach of the year Mile Todorovski from FC Bossy Liverpool with the addition of a number of new and talented players for season 2009.
The Suns have already organised trial matches set with Sydney Olympic, Sydney United, St George, Macarthur Rams, Victorian outfit Altona Magic, Inter Lions and Wollongong United which should give the Suns the strong preparation it needs for a mounting campaign to be Premiers in the FNSW Super League competition in 2009.
