Sydney FC to tackle Super League outfit Northern Tigers on June 3rd

Kick off is at 7.30 pm with pre-match entertainment for the whole family from 6.00 PM. Northern Tigers FC are the representative club of the Kuring-gai District Soccer Association.
The match is a pre-season trial for Sydney FC and an important stepping stone in their bid to commence version five of the Hyundai A-League series in style. In a rolling schedule of pre-season trials, just eight weeks later they take on the new A-League outfit North Queensland Fury on August 8 in Townsville.
The Northern Tigers with three wins on the trot at home will be keen to use this friendly match to hone the skills that have seen them climb steadily up the ladder in recent weeks. The Tigers are currently placed fifth in the Football NSW Super League competition. Coach Jason Eagar is keen to ensure the event is a great spectacle for local football enthusiasts and the loyal faithful who turn up to Mills Park to cheer on the green and white at every home game.
Jason said ?What a wonderful opportunity for the local community to get up close and see world class players in their own backyard. It?s also a great chance for the local Tigers players to test themselves against the best, the lads are really looking forward to the challenge and the atmosphere of the anticipated large crowd.?
It will also be an interesting eye opener for newly arrived Sydney FC Head Coach, Vitezslav Lavicka.
He?s travelled halfway around the world to take up his position but Lavicka knows his journey has only just begun as he aims to lift Sydney FC to Championship glory in version five of the Hyundai A-League.
The 45-year old from the Czech Republic spoke at length for the first time about his ambitions for the Sky Blues, and his words should provide plenty of comfort for Sydney?s fans.
?We aim to play good football and to win,? said the former Czech league Coach of the Year. ?I will bring my philosophy to Sydney. With hard work and unity we can have good success.?
Lavicka arrived in the Harbour City in mid-April with fellow Czech and assistant Coach, Michal Zach. Together with co-assistant Coach, Tony Popovic they will spend the next two weeks planning for the coming campaign before the start of pre-season training.
?Sydney has good mix of experienced players and youth,? said Lavicka. ?We will work hard to build a system and style that is good for spectators and effective.?
The Northern Tigers Friendly match is a major fundraiser for the Northern Tigers Football Club and will be raising funds at the game in support of Gold Week, Sydney Children?s Hospital?s major fundraising campaign.
