State League Division 1 Round 11 Preview
Hurstville ZSC will be hoping to pick up their first victory of the season when they welcome Balmain SC to Hurstville Oval, kicking off at the unusual time, for a Saturday, that is, of 3-00pm.
Both sides had last weekend off and will be eager to get on the park for a run, and with so many draws between them this year, a stalemate could very well be the most likely outcome again.
Later that evening there are two matches scheduled, both due for a 7-30pm kickoff.
Dulwich Hill SC will be hoping to get back on track after their first loss of 2009 last week, but will have their hands full with the formidable Mounties FC outfit. Both sides occupy equal second spot on the ladder, and will be hoping to get the jump on their opponent with what would be a decisive victory at Arlington Oval.
At Second Ponds Oval, Hills Brumbies entertain Sydney Wanderers in a match that both sides will be desperate to win. Both teams had the rest last weekend and will be full of running, so look out for a close game here.
There are three matches due to be played on Sunday afternoon, all starting at 3-00pm.
Fairfield City Lions travel to Arlington Oval, hoping to stop Stanmore Hawks? good form of late. The Hawks have been on fire with a hatrick of consecutive wins, but Fairfield didn?t play last week, so will be fresh and fired up for a strong performance.
Inter Lions meet Blacktown Spartans at Concord Oval in what is shaping up as one the matches of the round.
Inter have been in solid form in recent weeks, scoring plenty, and are well placed on the ladder with games in hand.
Blacktown haven?t had the rub of green in recent weeks, but their effort suggests that they are not far from getting their season back on track, so you can expect a real tight tussle in this clash.
In the final match of the round, it doesn?t get any easier for UNSW as they entertain Schofields Scorpions at David Phillips Field.
Following their marvellous win against Dully last Saturday, there is no reason why UNSW cannot follow up on that with another big scalp against the Scorpions.
But beware the attacking power of Schofields, they can sting you from all over the park, and will no doubt be hoping to retain their position on top of the competition.
