As it happened, Saturday was a wonderful day for football and while some of the grounds may have been a bit soggy, the quality of the play more than matched the superb weather.
Overview
Sydney Olympic must have been delighted with the eleven points they earned at home to Bonnyrigg White Eagles especially as Bonnyrigg had taken a dozen points from their first round encounter while it is certain that Blacktown City Demons would have been chuffed with the ten points they pocketed from their short trip to old rivals Marconi Stallions. That was the first time the Stallions and the Demons had met this season.
Sutherland Sharks bagged nine points at home to Bankstown City and that was two points less than the Sharks had earned last time around while Sydney United earned eight points from their clash with Wollongong FC, one point better than the last time they faced each other.
Sydney Tigers and Penrith Nepean United split the points at seven apiece in a replay of the first round encounter while the matches between West Sydney Berries and Manly United were washed out.
Grade 13
West Sydney Berries held onto the competition lead even though their match with Manly United was washed out but that caused the northern beaches outfit to drop back one place to sixth.
Sydney Olympic remained at second and took their unbeaten run to nine matches when they produced a 2-1 result over third placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who had won the first round match 1-0.
Marconi Stallions are still fourth following their 4-2 success over seventh placed Blacktown City Demons who they were facing for the first time this season.
Wollongong FC had beaten Sydney United 4-1 in the first round and they completed the double with a 3-1 scoreline this time around, allowing them to move up one place to fifth and leaving United at eighth.
Ninth placed Sutherland Sharks were 1-0 winners the last time they met Bankstown City but this time the Lions turned the tables as they posted a 1-0 result that moved them up one spot to tenth.
Sydney Tigers had won the first round encounter with Penrith Nepean United 3-1 but the mountain men got their revenge with a 2-0 win this time, an outcome that moves Penrith up to eleventh and dropped the Tigers two places to twelfth.
Grade 14
Marconi Stallions stayed in the number one spot on the table but their six-match unbeaten run came to a screaming halt when they went down 2-1 to third placed Blacktown City Demons.
Sutherland Sharks remained at second and extended their unbeaten run to nine games after their 4-0 win over twelfth placed Bankstown City, just as they did in the first round.
Sydney Tigers took their winning sequence to four matches and climbed one position to fourth with a 2-1 win over Penrith Nepean United who slipped back to fifth. PNU had taken the first round points with a 3-2 result.
Manly United retained sixth spot when they were washed out against tenth placed West Sydney Berries.
Wollongong FC slid back one place to eighth when they played out a 1-1 draw with ninth placed Sydney United who had won the first round match 4-3.
Sydney Olympic were coming off two losses and they had not played for two weeks but they managed to climb two places to seventh with a 3-0 success over thirteenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles and that completed the double for Olympic as they were 1-0 first round winners.
Grade 15
Top of the table Blacktown City Demons continued their unbeaten run when they battled out a 1-1 draw with second placed Marconi Stallions who have remained undefeated.
Manly United are still third after their match against eleventh placed West Sydney Berries was washed out.
Fourth placed Wollongong FC were held to a 1-1 draw by sixth placed Sydney United who had won the first round encounter 2-0.
Penrith Nepean United retained fifth position when they were held to a 2-2 draw by tenth placed Sydney Tigers who were 2-1 winners last time around.
Sutherland Sharks remained at seventh after they defeated twelfth placed Bankstown City 2-1 and that completed the double for the Sharks who had won the first round game 1-0.
Ninth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles held eighth placed Sydney Olympic to a 1-1 draw after Bonnyrigg and won 2-0 the first time around.
Grade 16
Sydney United took their unbeaten run to eight matches and gained the competition lead with a 1-0 result over Wollongong FC who have slipped back two places to third. The first round clash of these teams ended in a 2-2 draw.
Blacktown City Demons have now been unbeaten for six matches following their 1-0 success over eleventh placed Marconi Stallions, an outcome that moved the Demons up one place to second.
Manly United held onto fourth position even though their match was washed out against West Sydney Berries who have dropped two places to seventh.
Sydney Tigers climbed one place to fifth with a 1-0 victory over eighth placed Penrith Nepean United who had won the first round clash by the same scoreline.
Sydney Olympic moved up one position to sixth when they were 2-0 winners over tenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles, reversing the first round outcome when Bonnyrigg had secured a 1-0 result.
Sutherland Sharks remained at ninth when they lost 1-0 to twelfth placed Bankstown City after these teams had played out a 2-2 first round draw.
Grade 18
Wollongong FC have retained the competition lead despite ending their five match winning run with a 1-0 loss to tenth placed Sydney United who the Wolves had beaten 2-1 in their first round match.
West Sydney Berries are still placed second after they were washed out against Manly United who have fallen back to fourth.
Blacktown City Demons climbed one place to third when they were 2-0 winners over seventh placed Marconi Stallions.
Sutherland Sharks rose one place to fifth with a 2-1 win over Bankstown City who dropped back one place to sixth. These teams had played out a 1-1 draw in the first round.
Sydney Olympic dropped a place to ninth when they were held to a 2-2 draw by thirteenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles whose only win had been a 2-0 result over Olympic in the first round.
Penrith Nepean United rose one position to eighth thanks to a 3-0 result over eleventh placed Sydney Tigers with whom they had played out a 1-1 first round draw.

Wollongong FC would have been very pleased with the thirteen points they earned from their clash with Bankstown City especially since they had done the same thing in the first round.
Sydney Tigers had their best day of the season when they took thirteen points from Bonnyrigg White Eagles from whom the Tigers had taken eleven first round points.
Sydney Olympic also enjoyed their best set of results when they bagged thirteen points from West Sydney Berries to reverse the first round outcome when the Berries had earned thirteen points.
Sydney United and Blacktown City Demons split the points evenly at seven apiece after the Demons had pocketed eight of the first round points.
Grade 13
West Sydney Berries have hung onto the top spot on the table after they suffered a 3-2 loss to second placed Sydney Olympic who the Berries had beaten 4-2 on the opening day of the season.
Wollongong FC rose from sixth to second with a 4-0 victory over eleventh placed Bankstown City with whom they had played out a 1-1 first round draw.
Bonnyrigg White Eagles fell back to third when they were held to a 1-1 draw by tenth placed Sydney Tigers and that was exactly the same outcome as they had registered in the first round.
Blacktown City Demons climbed one place to sixth with a 2-0 win over eighth placed Sydney United with whom they had battled out a scoreless first round draw.
Grade 14
Blacktown City Demons stayed at third despite their 1-0 loss to Sydney United who have remained at ninth. The first round match was a 1-1 draw.
Seventh placed Wollongong FC posted a very solid 6-0 result over twelfth placed Bankstown City who the Wolves had beaten 2-0 the first time around.
Sydney Olympic are still eighth after they recorded a scoreless draw with eleventh placed West Sydney Berries who were 1-0 winners in the first round.
Sydney Tigers moved up one place to fourth when they had a strong 4-0 success over thirteenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who the Tigers had beaten 3-0 last time.

Wollongong FC climbed one place to third when they had a 3-1 victory over twelfth placed Bankstown City and that completed the double for the Wolves after they had won the first round match 2-1.
Sydney United remained at sixth after they were 2-0 winners over competition leaders Blacktown City Demons who had won the first round encounter 5-2.
Sydney Olympic are still eighth following their 3-2 success over West Sydney Berries who have dropped back a place to eleventh. The Berries had won the first round match 1-0.
Sydney Tigers rose two places to ninth with a 1-0 win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles who have fallen back one place to tenth. The first round match was a scoreless draw.
Grade 16
Wollongong FC continued to hold down the top spot on the table after they recorded a 2-1 win over twelfth placed Bankstown City who they had beaten 5-1 in the first round.
Sydney United are still second following their scoreless draw with third placed Blacktown City Demons. United had won the first round encounter 1-0.
Sydney Tigers moved up one place to fifth thanks to their 1-0 success over tenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who the Tigers had beaten 2-0 last time.
Sydney Olympic climbed one place to sixth with a 2-1 result over West Sydney Berries who have slipped back two places to seventh. The Berries had won the first round match by the same scoreline.
Grade 18
Wollongong FC are still in control at the top of the ladder after they drew 1-1 with sixth placed Bankstown City who the wolves had beaten 3-2 last time.
Blacktown City Demons are second after they were 2-0 winners over tenth placed Sydney United who they had beaten 1-0 in the first round.
Sydney Olympic moved up one place to seventh following their 3-1 victory over third placed West Sydney Berries. The first round match had ended at 1-1.
Sydney Tigers remained at eleventh despite winning a thriller by the odd goal in nine over thirteenth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles. That completed the double for the Tigers as they had won the first round game 3-0.
