Sydney Olympic prepares for clash with Sydney FC this weekend
Sydney FC remains undefeated in its pre-season schedule against A-League and NSW Premier League and Super League outfits. This is most pleasing for new coach Vitezslav Lavicka and the Sydney FC team. Sydney Olympic is looking to change all that after it showed it can match it with the big boys following a stirring 2-1 win over Newcastle Jets who at that stage were still in the last 16 of the Asian Champions League.
Sydney FC has conceded just one goal in its current warm up campaign and will look to continue that despite playing against the team which boasts the top 2 goal scorers in the TeleChoice Premier League Matthew Mayora and Tolgay Ozbey. Apart from the two sharp shooters, Olympic also have quite a few players with A-League or NSL experience in Peter Zorbas, Adam Biddle, Mirko Jurilj, Jordan Simpson, Chris Triantis, Michael Cindric, Anthony Doumanis and Peter McPherson.
Sydney FC also contain some players who have worn the Olympic jersey including the likes of Clint Bolton (who won a championship with Sydney Olympic) as well as in more recent times in Mark Bridge, Matthew Jurman and Shannon Cole.
Of major interest would be to see Australia?s greatest ever goalkeeper in Mark Bosnich show his wares against one the A-League favourites. Bozza will be keen to prove he still has what it takes to play in the best level in Australia or overseas.
It will be a massive day with gates opening and activities commencing from 12pm including the Australian National Deaf team having a warm up match before its first full friendly international match against the Ghana National Deaf team on the 26th of July at Belmore Sports Ground. The legends game will include players which grace our fields throughout the 1980?s and 1990?s who were also Australian Internationals including the likes of Katholos, Soper, Kalantzis, Koussas, Saad, Arambasic, Kosmina, Yankos, Awaratife, etc

12:00pm – Sydney Olympic U18s vs NSWIS U18s
2:00pm – Sydney Olympic U16s vs Australia National Deaf Team
3:45pm – Sydney Olympic Legends vs All Star Legends
5:30pm – Sydney Olympic vs Sydney FC
7:30pm – Presentation of trophy and post match interviews (TBC)
