Needing positive results in their final two matches the hungry young Sharks knew they needed to be at their very best taking on Spanish giants FC Barcelona and English super club Manchester United.
In what was possibly their best result to date in the tournament Ivan Blazevic?s men managed to notch up a 0-0 draw against FC Barcelona to keep their hopes alive in the prestigious Youth Cup.
Things however didn?t go to script for the Shire boys as they fell short of a finals placing with a 2-0 loss to Manchester United all but ending their dreams of progressing to the latter stages of the Manchester United Premier Cup.
The Sharks have now been scheduled to play against South African outfit Orlando Pirates in a playoff for one of the lower positions on Friday evening Sydney time but the entire Sutherland Sharks side can hold their heads up high for what was a very courageous effort.
To date the Sutherland Sharks have been recorded as being the most successful side from the Oceania region after notching up five points in four matches and having recorded one win, one loss and two draws.
