Southern Branch crowned Under 16?s Proctor Cup winners

The under 12?s had some mixed results but all involved were happy with how the new team is progressing. After playing 5 games the squad came away with 2 wins and 3 losses.
The under 14?s were unlucky to lose the first game they played but bounced back to stay unbeaten for the remaining games. To be beaten in a close contest by one of the finalists was a good effort and the squad will have learnt a lot from the weekend away.
The under 16?s won their first game against the Rams, then faced Apia, another win seen the girls face the new Super League club Northbridge. This was a very good game and after going behind the Southern girls fought back to win 2-1.
Sunday seen the girls play Woden Valley this game ended 1-1
The semi final seen Southern play Albury Wodonga the game was good to watch as both teams played some attacking football, but an early goal to Southern put the girls from the border on the back foot the second goal was a good build up but some last ditch defence to stop the shot seen a deflected goal deflate the Albury girls. The game ended 3-0 to Southern.
The final seen Inter Lions vs Southern both teams having played some tough teams over the weekend and it was going to be the fittest team or as is the case with finals an individual piece of play that can change these types of games. A free kick awarded right on half time presented Taren King with a chance to shoot at goal 1-0 to Southern at half time.
Inter threw everything at Southern in the second half and had a chance to equalise right on full time with another free kick. Southern held out to earn their first trophy as a premier league club. Southern would like to thank the organizers and clubs that attended. We look forward to heading back next year.
