Division One Youth League Round 5 Review

It seems that the various competitions are beginning to settle down and so it will be possible and practical to look at the competition tables from next week onward as we will at last have a clear picture of the direction each competition is taking.
I am still seeking some help from the clubs in the form of short, unbiased match reports, including the full names of the goal scorers. I can only attend one of the twenty venues operating each weekend so I really do need some help with this information.
Club Championship
Camden Tigers had their best day of the season to-date when they collected all fifteen points at home to Northbridge while Mt Druitt Town Rangers enjoyed their visit to Southern NSW where they grabbed twelve of the available points, a season-best for the Rangers..
Another club to surpass their previous best this season is Hills Brumbies who took ten points from their home encounter with Inter Lions while Gladesville Ryde Magic bagged a total of ten points at home to Hakoah.
Hurstville City Minotaurs earned nine points from their clash with Balmain East Tigers and St George pocketed eight points when they faced Stanmore Hawks while Springwood and Nepean shared the spoils at seven apiece.
In Round 2 catch-up action Fraser Park took ten points from their encounter with Northern Tigers
Grade 13
Camden Tigers continued their perfect start, making it five wins from as many games when they overcame Northbridge with a 3-1 scoreline. P Hayes shocked the Tigers defence in the 2nd minute with a strike on goal that gave Northbridge the early lead. The goal appeared to put the Tigers off their normal game and lifted the vistors spirit and confidence. For the next ten minutes the game moved from end to end with both teams creating chances. In the 12th minute Eric McGuire scored the equaliser for the Tigers and five minutes later the Tigers took the lead after a long distance strike from Nick Landown. The second half again saw both sides create scoring opportunities but neither side was able to score until Khit Minh scored Camden?s third goal in the 43rd minute. Camden went in search for a fourth to finish the game off but were continually held out by a hard working Northbridge defence.
Gladesville Ryde Magic have a similar record to the Tigers following their 3-1 success over Hakoah.
Southern NSW stretched their unbeaten run to four games when they were 2-1 winners over Mt Druitt Town Rangers and St George had their second win in as many weeks when they posted a 3-1 scoreline in their meeting with Stanmore Hawks.
Hills Brumbies earned their first points for this campaign with a 3-0 success from their match against Inter Lions and Hurstville City Minotaurs made a return to the winners circle with a 2-0 victory over Balmain East Tigers while Nepean were just a bit too good for Springwood, winning the match 3-1.
In Round 2 catch-up action Fraser Park and Northern Tigers split the points after they had battled out a 1-1 draw.
Grade 14
Balmain East Tigers were 4-1 winners over Hurstville City Minotaurs and that means that Tigers? unbeaten run now stands at five matches while Hakoah have not tasted defeat since the opening day of the season following their 1-0 win over Gladesville Ryde Magic.
Stanmore Hawks posted their fifth win from as many games, all of them involving clean sheets, thanks to their scoreless draw with St George and Mt Druitt Town Rangers posted their second win in a row when they downed Southern NSW with a 5-1 scoreline.
Camden Tigers recovered from last week?s loss to record a 2-0 win over Northbridge. Camden and Northbridge both looked to knock the ball around in an effort to create that goal scoring opportunity that would open up a tight match between two evenly balanced teams. With the game locked at 0 – 0 and half time fast approaching, Brady Russell showed strength and pace to beat the Northbridge defence and keeper to give the Tigers the half time lead. The tight game continued in the second half with both teams creating opportunities to score. It was left to Jarrod Litson to double Camden?s lead in the 47th minute when he showed skill and determination to take on the Northbridge defence and score a well deserved goal. The match finished 2 – 0 to the Tigers with both sides playing their part in a very enjoyable match.
Springwood edged out Nepean with a 1-0 result while Hills Brumbies shaded Inter Lions with a 2-1 outcome.
In Round 2 catch-up action Fraser Park grabbed the points with a solid 4-0 result over Northern Tigers.
Grade 15
Mt Druitt Town Rangers maintained their unbeaten record when they produced a 3-2 win over Southern NSW who had taken points from their previous four matches while both St George and Stanmore Hawks remained undefeated thanks to their 1-1 draw.
Springwood recorded their fourth draw of the season, this time 1-1 with Nepean and they too are undefeated.
Camden Tigers rejoined the winners circle following their very solid 6-1 success over Northbridge. Camden Coach John Astudillo was pleased with the positive attitude and discipline shown by his players in their dominance over Northbridge at Ron Dine Reserve. Jesse Inzitari opened the scoring for the Tigers in the 10th minute after some great build up from the Camden midfield. In the 23rd Minute, Sam Inzitari made it 2 – 0 then further Camden goals from Campbell Green in the 30th minute and Liam Hastie in the 34th minte gave Camden a commanding 4 – 0 half time lead. In the second half Camden?s dominance continued and a strike by Jaiden Cachia in the 47th minute made it 5-0 to the Tigers. To their credit Northbridge did not give up and were rewarded in the 49th minute when J. Beauman pulled a goal back for Northbridge. In the 57th minute, Camden striker Tony Daoud scored Camden?s sixth to finish the scoring for the match.
Gladesville Ryde Magic took their unbeaten sequence to three games with a 1-0 victory over Hakoah and Balmain East Tigers registered their third victory for the season when they were 2-1 winners over Hurstville City Minotaurs while the clash between Hills Brumbies and Inter Lions was locked at 2-2 when the final whistle sounded.
In Round 2 catch-up action Northern Tigers edged out Fraser Park when the scoreboard read 1-0 at the final whistle.
Grade 16
Stanmore Hawks have a perfect record of five wins from five matches thanks to their 3-0 success over St George while Hakoah are unbeaten following their 1-1 draw with Gladesville Ryde Magic.
Hurstville City Minotaurs are yet to taste defeat for this campaign following their 4-2 victory over Balmain East Tigers and Mt Druitt Town Rangers posted their first three-pointer for the season when they were 5-0 winners over Southern NSW.
Springwood enjoyed their biggest win of the competition, a 5-0 result over Nepean while Inter Lions were a bit too good for Hills Brumbies, winning the match 3-1.
Camden Tigers edged out Northbridge with a 2-1 success. In another tight and even match that could have gone anyway, Northbridge opened the scoring in the 38th minute when M. Vesper beat the Camden ?keeper with a terrific strike on goal. Both sides then created several opportunities to score but it was left to Tigers midfielder Nick Holmes to level the score in the 50th minute. With the defence of both teams looking strong it appeared that the game would finish 1 – 1 but Jake Astudillo had different ideas and in the 68th minute he followed up a long range shot from the Tigers midfield that the Northbridge ?keeper was only able to push away. Jake then grabbed the opportunity to calmly place the ball past the arm of the outstretched ?keeper to give the Tigers a 2 -1 victory.
In Round 2 catch-up action Fraser Park shaded Northern Tigers when the scoreline at the completion of play was 2-1.
Grade 18
Camden Tigers recorded their fourth straight win when they produced a very solid 6-0 result from their encounter with Northbridge. Camden continued their recent good form and played some exciting football in this match. Jordan Hooke opened the scoring for the Tigers in the fifth minute. In the eleventh minute Hooke beat the ?keeper again to give the Tigers an early 2 – 0 lead. Northbridge then appeared to settle into their game and they began to put some pressure on the Tigers? defence. In the thirtieth minute a strike on goal by Jake Watson made in 3 – 0 to the Tigers and seven minutes later, Matt Trotter put the game out of the reach of Northbridge when he scored Camden?s fourth. The scond half again saw Northbridge play some good football but the Camden defence held strong. It was left to Ben Knobel in the 75th minute and Matt Trotter in the 86th minute to round out a convincing 6 – 0 win for the Tigers.
Gladesville Ryde Magic remained unbeaten thanks to their 5-2 success over Hakoah.
Hills Brumbies continued their successful run with a 3-2 win over Inter Lions, meaning that the Brumbies have not lost in their first five outings while Hurstville City Minotaurs are another team who have not experienced defeat after they came up with a 3-1 win over Balmain East Tigers.
St George also remained unbeaten following their win by the odd goal in five over Stanmore Hawks while Mt Druitt Town Rangers collected maximum points for the first time with an emphatic 9-0 result when they faced Southern NSW and Nepean end a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over  Springwood.
