Division One Youth League Round 14 Review

Thankfully, the number of matches needing to be rescheduled was kept to a minimum as they can so often produce ?shock? results that change the structure of the competition tables.
Let?s have a look at what happened this weekend.
Club Championship
Mt Druitt Town Rangers completed the first half of the competition in the top spot on this table by a margin of five points while Springwood United were in tenth position. When they met last time the Rangers took eight points from the day. Unfortunately, this week?s return leg was washed out and that has forced the Rangers back to second spot while Springwood are still tenth.
Camden Tigers began the day in second place while Inter Lions were in twelfth position. When they met on the opening day of the season the clubs shared the spoils at seven apiece. This week?s clash was washed out, pushing the Tigers back to fourth place and leaving the Lions at twelfth.
Gladesville Ryde Magic were in third place at the end of the first round and Southern NSW were placed seventh. Magic had made off with twelve points when the clubs faced each other last time but on this occasion they shared the points at seven apiece. Magic then added six points to their tally from Round 6 catch-up matches. That has taken them to the top of the table while Southern have slipped back to ninth.
St George completed their first round commitments in fourth position while Hakoah were just two points further back at sixth. The Saints had bagged ten points when they played last time. Hakoah squared the account this week when they bagged nine points and they have climbed to fifth as a consequence while the Saints are now sixth.
Stanmore Hawks started the day in fifth place and Northbridge were placed thirteenth. Eleven of the first round points were claimed by the Hawks. The trend continued this week when the Hawks pocketed twelve points and moved up to third while Northbridge have remained where they were on the table.
Hills Brumbies finished the first half of the competition in seventh spot and Hurstville City Minotaurs were three points behind them at ninth. The Minotaurs had taken eleven points when the clubs met last time and this week they were able to add nine points to their tally. Hills have remained at seventh and the Minotaurs have moved up to eighth.
At the completion of the first round Balmain East Tigers were in eleventh position and Nepean were fourteenth. The clubs had split the first round points at seven apiece but this time Balmain enjoyed their best Youth League day when they stuffed twelve points into their pockets. Both clubs have remained where they were on the table.
Grade 13
Camden Tigers were the competition frontrunners by a margin of four points at the end of the first round after they had recorded eleven victories while Inter Lions were in eighth position with four wins and two draws. Camden had taken the first round points with a 2-1 result but the return match was washed out this week. The Tigers managed to hold onto the top spot but their margin has been reduced to a single point while the Lions have dropped back to ninth.
Hakoah arrived at the round in second spot after they had posted nine wins and two draws and St George were sixth with seven wins and three draws. Their clash on the opening day of the season ended in a 1-1 draw. On this occasion the Saints took the points with a 2-1 result and while they have retained sixth position, Hakoah have dropped to third.
Southern NSW started the day in third place thanks to the nine wins and two draws they had recorded in the first half of the competition while Gladesville Ryde Magic were one point further back at fourth with nine wins and one draw. The first round points had gone to Magic when they were 2-0 winners but Southern turned that around this week when they won by the odd goal in five. That has allowed Southern to climb to second spot and Magic are still fourth.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers were in fifth position on goal difference thanks to their record of nine wins and a draw and Springwood United were twelfth with three wins to their credit. The Rangers collected the first round points with a 5-2 success but the return match was washed out this week. That has meant that while the Rangers are still fifth, Springwood have fallen back to thirteenth.
Hurstville City Minotaurs came into this game in seventh spot with six wins and two draws and Hills Brumbies had registered four wins and a draw to claim ninth place. When they met last time the Minotaurs were 2-0 winners and they were able to repeat that effort this week when they won by the same scoreline. The Minotaurs have remained at seventh but the Brumbies have slipped back to tenth.
Nepean found themselves in tenth place before a ball was kicked on Saturday after they had produced three wins and three draws while Balmain East Tigers were fourteenth with one win. Nepean took the first round points with a 3-0 result and they completed the double when they won 7-3 this week. Nepean have scooted up to eighth and the Tigers have remained at the foot of the table.
Placed eleventh at the start of the day Northbridge had come up with two wins and three draws and thirteenth placed Stanmore Hawks had two wins and two draws to show for their season so far. The teams had battled out a 1-1 draw when they met last time but on this occasion the Hawks gained the upper hand when they recorded a 2-1 victory and that has moved them up two places to eleventh and caused Northbridge to drop to twelfth.
Grade 14
St George were four points clear at the top of the table when the day commenced after they had collected eleven wins and a draw from their first round matches while Hakoah were fourth with eight wins and a draw from the same period. The Saints had bagged the first round points with a 3-0 result and they completed the double this week with a 3-0 success. They have retained both the competition lead and the margin while Hakoah are still fourth.

Southern had bagged the first round points with a 3-1 result and they completed the double with a 2-0 victory this time around. Both teams have retained their places on the table.
Balmain East Tigers were placed fourth with seven wins and a draw coming from the first half of the competition while Nepean were thirteenth and they had posted two wins and a draw. The Tigers had claimed the first round points with a 2-0 result and they took out the double this week when they once again recorded a 2-0 scoreline. That means that the Tigers are still fourth and Nepean are still thirteenth.

Hakoah had taken the first round points when they were 4-1 winners and they completed the double this week with a 6-1 result. They have remained at the top of the table and the Saints are still seventh.

The Lions had taken the first round points with a 4-2 win and then this week?s match was washed out. Neither team made a movement on the table this week.
Balmain East Tigers came into the weekend in eleventh place with two wins ad two draws to their credit while thirteenth placed Nepean had registered one win and two draws. The first round points were claimed by the Tigers when they won 2-0 and they went on to complete the double with another 2-0 result this week. Both teams have stayed where they were on the table.
In Round 9 catch-up action Gladesville Ryde Magic were 3-0 winners over Mt Druitt Town Rangers, an outcome that did not affect the position of either team on the table.
Grade 18
Camden Tigers started the weekend as the competition leaders on goal difference after they had recorded ten wins and a draw in the first half of the competition while Inter Lions were twelfth with two wins and two draws on their record. The first round points had gone to the Lions after they won a genuine nail-biter 6-5 but this week?s return match was washed out. As a result, the Tigers have slipped back to third but the Lions are still twelfth.
Unbeaten Hills Brumbies were in second spot with nine wins and four draws from their first thirteen matches and Hurstville City Minotaurs were eighth with four wins and four draws. The first round match was a high scoring thriller which finished as a 4-4 draw and then the Brumbies grabbed the points this week with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Brad Robertson and Jordan Caporale. The Brumbies have retained second spot and the Minotaurs have held onto eight position.
Gladesville Ryde Magic were also unbeaten after their first twelve matches produced eight wins and four draws while Southern NSW have recorded just one draw. Magic won the first round encounter 10-0 and they completed the double with an 8-0 victory this week. In Round 9 catch-up action Magic defeated Mt Druitt Town Rangers 2-1. Those results have allowed Gladesville to take the lead on the table and Southern are still at the foot of the table.
