Bankstown City returns to the winners list

The match had all the hallmarks of an epic battle between two struggling NSW Premier League sides as the action came thick and fast from both sets of players in what was a fierce battle fought between the two.
Parramatta?s chances of winning the match weren?t made easy as early as the 11th minute coach Manny Spandouakis was given his marching orders off the bench for arguing with referee Khodr Yaghi.
Bankstown supporters had something to smile about however early on in the 23rd minute when Nathan Ristevski scored after some good work by Hussein Salameh. Salameh put on the party tricks and had a shot that was saved by Anthony Costa but the Parramatta defence failed to clear the ball leaving Ristevski to smash home the game?s first goal.
The turning point of the match occurred a minute before half-time when livewire attacker Kutaiba Elrich was given his marching orders for the Eagles by Yaghi. The fiery Eagles star was given a straight red after an altercation with Bankstown skipper and keeper Zlatko Joseski.
The match ended 1-0 at the break and the heavens opened much to the dissatisfaction of the fans that turned up to the match.
The one man advantage certainly benefited the home side as they played some wonderful football and were further rewarded for their efforts as Salameh jinxed his way through the Parramatta side and smashed a shot outside the box in the 54th minute to put Bankstown two-up.
In the 63rd minute Chris Bedzo got in on the act and etched his name on the scoresheet as the former Blacktown City player passed through a few Parramatta players and smashed home the game?s third.
Parramatta grabbed a consolation goal in the 90th minute as a stinging 30-yard power driver ripped through the Bankstown net by Peter Crevani.
It was to be Bankstown?s day though as a minute later Sean Mitchell put the icing on the cake for the home side making it 4-1 after Costa dropped a corner by Steven Krsteski which spilled to Mitchell who poked home the game?s final goal.
The victory put Bankstown one point off Manly United in sixth position while the loss condemned Parramatta to bottom of the league for this weekend.
