NSW Premier League Ground 20 Round 5 Preview
The likes of Marconi and the two Blacktown clubs will be looking to once again build on their attacking performances of the weekend, whilst South Coast Wolves will be hoping that their comeback from 3-0 down against Sydney United 58 sparks their season into life.
ROUND PREVIEW
SATURDAY
SOUTH COAST WOLVES VS BLACKTOWN SPARTANS, 5PM, JOHN CREHAN PARK
South Coast Wolves host Blacktown Spartans on Saturday evening at John Crehan Park.
Both sides are coming off goalscoring draws, with South Coast coming back from 3-0 down to claim at point against Sydney United 58 at Edensor Park.
Similarly, Blacktown Spartans claimed a draw in the Blacktown derby against Blacktown City, as they shared the four goals and the subsequent point.
As a result, this promises to be another open, attacking match between two sides adjacent in the table.
SUTHERLAND SHARKS VS SYDNEY UNITED 58, 5PM, SEYMOUR SHAW PARK
Sutherland Sharks are one of the form teams after the first month of the competition, having won three of their four games.
They are at home this weekend to Sydney United 58, who were part of the previously mentioned high scoring draw at Edensor Park, in last week’s match of the round.
Sutherland will be looking to consolidate their place in the top three, whilst Sydney United 58 will be hoping to parachute themselves into the upper echelons of the table.
SUNDAY
SYDNEY OLYMPIC VS PARRAMATTA FC, 1PM, BELMORE SPORTS GROUND
Struggling Sydney Olympic host Parramatta FC on Sunday afternoon at Belmore Sports Ground.
Sydney Olympic are without a point so far this season and were on the wrong end of a 8-1 pasting from Marconi Stallions last weekend.
They will be hoping to bounce back strongly against a Parramatta FC side whose results have not yet reflected their positive approach to the way they play football.
Paul de Lucca’s side have lacked a cutting edge in front of goal and will be hoping to find their shooting boots this weekend, as they have only scored three goals thus far this season.
ROCKDALE CITY SUNS VS BONNYRIGG WHITE EAGLES, 1PM, ILLINDEN SPORTS CENTRE
Rockdale City Suns and Bonnyrigg White Eagles are both coming off defeats last weekend.
Rockdale were outclassed by the impressive Sutherland Sharks and they will definitely be looking to improve against winless Bonnyrigg White Eagles, who were defeated by Manly United last weekend.
APIA LEICHHARDT VS MANLY UNITED, 1PM, LAMBERT PARK
APIA Leichhardt face a strong test this weekend at home to Manly United on Sundauy afternoon at Lambert Park.
APIA drew 2-2 with Parramatta FC last weekend and are still winless, whilst Manly United, after a slow start are now coming off two wins on the bounce.
Last weekend their young side were hugely impressive in winning 3-1 away to Bonnyrigg White Eagles, and they will certainly place a huge amount of pressure on Rod Williams APIA side.
BLACKTOWN CITY FC VS MARCONI STALLIONS, 1PM, LILY HOMES
In what promises to be a hugely exciting match, Blacktown City take on Marconi Stallions at Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
This top of the table clash is between the only two undefeated sides in the competition and both Mark Strachan and Franco Cosentino have their sides playing wonderful, open attacking football.
Marconi have scored 15 goals and Blacktown City 14, whilst Marconi have only conceded 2 goals and Blacktown City 3.
Blacktown City are coming off an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Blacktown derby, whilst Marconi will be looking to maintain the momentum gained in their 8-1 thrashing of Sydney Olympic last weekend.
