White Eagles hammer Manly United to further strengthen lead at the top

In a performance coach Brian ?Bomber? Brown labelled ?one of their better this season?, braces from prolific striker Robbie Younis and midfielder Alex Canak secured three points on the road.
The White Eagles took a while to get going, and almost went behind after 5? minutes.
United?s strapping defender Graeme Forbes ghosted in at the far post and produced a bullet header which was cleared off the line.
Moments later, Younis opened the scoring with a moment of individual brilliance.
Spotting Manly United goalkeeper Dylan Mitchell off his line, the one time Adelaide United goal poacher picked up a loose ball and lobbed him from 22-yards before celebrating accordingly.
It was a goal worthy of any highlights reel across the globe, and showed a striker in true scoring touch.
15? minutes in, former Manly boy Chris Payne found himself with only Mitchell to beat, but he shot straight at the gloveman, who narrowed the angle brilliantly.
The Manly fans jeered as one, following Payne?s controversial mid-season defection to the league leaders.
27? minutes in the White Eagles went two up. Canak, who bossed the midfield all night, was on the spot to rifle home a volley at the far post, and from that moment the game was effectively over as a contest.
United?s night got worse moments later when inspirational stopper Marc Richards had to be replaced after tweaking his troublesome hamstring.
Canak should have made it three after 39? minutes when he was played in by Younis, but skewed his effort wide.
It was more of the same after the break ? Bonnyrigg dominating, Manly retreating.
On 48? minutes Younis should have scored but was wasteful with the goal at his mercy. With only Mitchell to beat he snatched at his chance, volleying over the crossbar.
8? minutes later, Bonnyrigg?s Mitchell Long also should have graced the scoresheet, only for Forbes to cover with a great sliding tackle.
On the hour mark that man Younis got his second goal. Manly?s marking was non-existent, and he didn?t need a second invitation, planting his header past Mitchell.
Substitute Matt Sim added some respectability to proceedings with a tap-in after 79? minutes, before Canak rounded out the scoring with a majestic finish in injury time.
Brown was a happy man outside the sheds after the final whistle:
?Once we got going (after the first goal) we looked very good,?? he said.
?The boys loved playing on the new surface and on another day we could have scored a few more goals.
?Our work rate and passing was first rate, I was very happy with the overall performance.
?We also have a few boys coming back from injury over the next few weeks, so the signs are good leading into the finals.?
Richards, who was in charge after Craig Midgley?s girlfriend had the couple?s first child earlier this week, lamented simple errors on the ball which proved costly:
?They are leaders for a reason,?? he said.
?Bonnyrigg are a decent, well drilled side but we made life hard for ourselves after giving away cheap ball.
?We need to stick together and keep working hard, which we will.?
