Super Youth League Round 22 Review

slyouth-9_02

When the competition began everyone seemed to agree that this would be one of the most competitive in this division and that has certainly proved to be the case as no-one has been certain of taking the points before the start of any game played this season. This has been made clear by what must be a record number of ?shock? results registered throughout the competition.
Congratulations must go to everyone concerned because, no matter where they finished the season, they have all made a huge contribution to the quality of play this season and few would argue that it has reached new heights.
As usual The Youth League Report will continue throughout the finals series and then in the week after the Grand Finals a Season Review will appear to analyse the results of each team and club.
Club Championship Apology
Please allow me to begin with an apology to Central Coast Mariners. For the last couple of weeks I have been erroneously writing that the Mariners were placed second on this table. The simple reason is that I was not aware that they had actually played their Round 16 catch-up fixture and therefore I did not credit them with those points. I discovered midweek that the matches had in fact been played and my tables have been adjusted accordingly. The Mariners were the competition leaders coming into this round and there is no doubt about it. Once again, my apologies go to the club for my error and for any distress this may have caused.
Club Championship
In the top of the table clash Central Coast Mariners claimed the title as Club Champions when they collected eight points from the meeting with second placed Sydney University so congratulations go to both clubs for an outstanding season of success. This week?s outcome reverses the first round result when Uni claimed eight points.
Mounties Wanderers have finished in third place even though they could take only two points from their meeting with Granville Rage who have jumped from sixth to end the season in fourth position. This squares the ledger as the Wanderers had take eleven of the first round points.
Spirit FC completed the competition in fifth placed after they claimed nine points from their fixture against Western NSW Mariners who have tumbled back two places to sixth. Last time the clubs met, Western took ten points from the day.
On a day when the first four games ended in draws, seventh placed Fraser Park earned only four points from their encounter with Northern Tigers who climbed one place up the ladder to end up eighth. Fraser Park had earned ten points from their last clash with the Tigers.
Macarthur Rams slipped back one place to ninth when they shared the spoils at six points apiece with eleventh placed Bankstown Berries. The Rams had claimed nine of the first round points.
Tenth placed Dulwich Hill and twelfth placed Bankstown City Lions each took seven points from this week?s fixture. Last time around Dully had grabbed nine of the available points.
