Women’s State League side Gladesville Ravens’ Under 13s have had a monumental year after going through unbeaten and last weekend won themselves a spot in next weekend’s Grand Final.

After playing a 1-1 draw with Bankstown last Tuesday evening to complete the regular season, nothing was certain about Sunday’s game.

Ravens played Bankstown again, but this time they didn’t let the occasion get to them and played Ravens’ brand of football from the whistle.

A goal after 10 minutes put Ravens firmly in control of the match and they secured the win with another goal in the second half.

Bankstown never gave up, but they were unable to trouble the scorers.

For the Ravens, Tuesday night’s match marked a huge achievement for the team.

By securing the draw, they finished the season’s regular matches undefeated.

What is also remarkable is that there have been 13 different goal scorers in the team. The girls have played in almost all positions and been given equal time on the pitch.

They now wait for the Grand Final, the last game of a fantastic season.

Most of the Ravens players will be remembering last year – they lost in the Grand Final then – and hoping they can go one better and remain undefeated in 2014.
