Clubs rewarded in National Club Accreditation Scheme

Thirty-six local NSW grassroots clubs were officially confirmed as Level 1 Accreditation in the National Club Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) after the mid-season application portal deadline closed on the 30th of September.

Northern Suburbs Football Association particularly were delighted with the numbers as twenty-nine of the clubs fell in their area.

NSFA CEO Duncan Tweed was impressed with his Association’s drive in getting behind the NCAS and stated to Football NSW how valuable this scheme was.

“The National Club Accreditation System is important for the Northern Suburbs Football Association for two main reasons.

“Firstly, NSFA firmly believes that stronger local Clubs means a stronger Association, and ultimately a stronger game.

“Grassroots Clubs are run almost exclusively by volunteers who are increasingly time-poor.  At the same time, Clubs are operating in an increasingly competitive environment to try and attract players, so it’s imperative that they are run as professionally as possible.

“Any program which helps Clubs improve their processes and provide better environments for players, coaches and administrators is one that should be promoted.

“Secondly, as a local Association one of our main objectives is to support our Member Clubs.

“We think that providing resources and assistance to Clubs in completing the NCAS application is a great way that we can add value.

“An individual Club may not have the internal resources to be able to answer all of the NCAS requirements, however as an Association we are hopefully able to help fill any gaps.

“The feedback we have from our Clubs is that the NCAS is a great initiative and one which will benefit them in coming seasons. NSFA is committed to helping Clubs help themselves through programs such as the National Club Accreditation System”.

“With four levels of accreditation to achieve, all clubs must enter at level 1 and it was these Grassroots clubs that secured its first level.”

Along with the Northern Suburbs, clubs from Manly, Blacktown and Gladesville Hornsby Associations also confirmed their status with teams obtaining the NCAS.

The National Club Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) is an initiative of Football Federation Australia (FFA) to raise the standards and promote best practices of our grassroots clubs, which will ultimately lead to a better footballing experience for players, officials, volunteers and parents.

This is achieved through a clear model that identifies and recognizes best practice in all areas of club administration, and will set guidelines and criteria for best-practice models which can be replicated in clubs throughout the country.

This program is designed to benefit clubs by directly engaging them with their member federations, bringing together all elements of Game Development including coach education, volunteer development, refereeing, small-sided football, good governance and the National Curriculum, as well as promoting and raising the profile of quality clubs across Australia.
