Northern Suburbs ready for ‘Silent on Sidelines Weekend’

SOS

It will be a ‘quiet’ affair across all matches in the Northern Suburbs Association as the ‘Silent on Sidelines’ weekend takes shape.

A fantastic initiative run by the Association, ‘Silent on Sidelines Weekend’ will focus on the fun and enjoyment for all players, stamping out abusive language and yelling at players and or referees.

The plan will be that everyone on the sidelines are expected to limit their noise to support and encouragement of the teams with the motto, leaving the coaching to the coaches in full swing.

“If a spectator makes a comment or does not follow the Association’s Code of Conduct they will be asked to put a gold coin in the team’s donation bag,” was the opening statement beamed out on the Northern Suburbs Football Association’s website.

All proceeds from the day will go towards assisting the Special Needs Programs run by St Ives FC and West Pymble FC.

The initiative also grabbed the attention of Channel 7 morning show ‘Sunrise’ where hosts David Koch and Samantha Armytage discussed why this practice was important with some assistance from NSFA CEO Duncan Tweed and Sacred Heart Mosman FC players and players.

Football NSW would like to acknowledge the Northern Suburbs Football Association on this fantastic initiative and would like to wish all its clubs, players, referees, coaches, supporters and parents the best of luck this weekend.
