It’s going to be a busy final week of football in the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 competition. It will complete a fantastic season and starts with the Preliminary Final on Wednesday.

Blacktown Spartans vs Sydney University @ Valentine Sports Park, 7:30pm Wednesday 26th August
It’s 2 v 3 on Wednesday night at Valentine Sports Park as the Blacktown Spartans and Sydney University both hope to take the last Grand Final spot.
Finals don’t come along often, nor do many teams and players have the opportunity to take part in them. Both teams have a fantastic chance of reaching the Grand Final and neither will go down wondering.
Losing to the Macarthur Rams on Sunday, the Spartans earned their opportunity to receive a double chance through their league finish.
There will be no double chances on Wednesday night though when they face University, as a loss will mean the end of their 2015 campaign.
Paul Costantini will look to sharpen his girls up after a 90 minutes that would have taken its toll on the team, however the Spartans have shown throughout the season the right mentality to be able to turn their week on to a positive path.
The girls from Blacktown have a fantastic collective and with players such as Teigen Allen, Liz O’Reilly and Alix Roberts leading the team they will bounce back immediately.
In the opposite dugout will be Heather Garriock. The Uni mentor will be happy with the fact her side have had an extra three days off following their grueling extra time victory over Manly United last week.
Some defensive frailties were exposed in that match as they conceded four but if Natasha Prior is at the top of her game, any side will find them hard to break down.
They’ve been one of the most lethal teams in the league with Stephanie Ambrose in spectacular form this season. The versatile winger scored two last week, sending her team into the Preliminary Final.
Liana Danaskos will be another to look out for, her passing ability Is second to none and she’ll be one Uni look to for creativity.
Throughout the season these two couldn’t be separated. Two draws were the tale of the tape with the last fixture finishing 0-0 two months ago.
