With today’s appointment of Phil Brown as CEO of Capital Football, Football NSW have announced Peter Hugg as the new Head of Football.
Peter has a long history in the game having being involved at various levels at three FIFA World Cups and three Olympic Games, including Sydney 2000 where he was the Tournament Director for the football competition. Other key roles in his football career have included Chief Executive of the former Australian Women’s Soccer Association and High Performance Manager for Soccer Australia.

Peter will take responsibility for all of the Football programs – Technical, Game Development/Member Services, Referees, all Coach Education and On Line services. Peter Hugg has been CEO of Football West for the last 6 years the governing body of football in Western Australia.  He has a Masters Degree in Sports Science where he undertook one of the very first studies on Talent Identification and the various Australian Soccer teams of the early 1990s.

He brings not only great experience and knowledge in Football at the elite and grassroots but also the capacity and energy to take forward these core Football programs in an even more integrated and connected fashion – building on the current position in each department and the opportunity to provide greater alignment with both our membership and the FFA.

Hugg said  “I am pleased to be joining Football NSW at this exciting time of its growth and in the midst of some wonderful initiatives that I have witnessed from  afar. I look forward to being part of what is already a wonderful team and contributing to the organisation’s and the sport’s ongoing success in NSW.

Hugg first visited Valentine Sports Park in the early 1980s when it regularly hosted National Youth Championships … “I first came here as a State Team Manager in 1983 when it was colloquially known just as ‘Parklea’ and there were still chicken hutches and not a residence in sight. To see what has transpired in the intervening years is nothing short of staggering and a credit to all involved”.

We congratulate Phil on this appointment and look forward to continue to work with him and Capital Football generally on the growth of Football in our related programs.

We sincerely thank Phil on his great work at Football NSW over two periods. His impact most recently in building the core Football programs – Game Development, Community Coach Education, Futsal, Summer Football, On line services and referees has been immense.

Peter will commence at Football NSW on April 18th.
