Phil Brown appointed CEO of Capital Football

After a thorough recruitment and selection process for a new CEO, the Chair of the Capital Football Board, Mark O’Neill, is pleased to inform the football community that Football NSW’s Head of Football, Phil Brown from Sydney, will replace Heather Reid with effect from Monday 18th April. 
As the Head of Football at Football NSW for the past four years and previously Project Manager at Football Federation Australia and Event Manager with the Asian Football Confederation, Phil has wide-ranging knowledge of the sport and demonstrated experience at international and national level.
 
Phil has been a key contributor to the development of strategic plans, organisational reviews and management of projects that have resulted in increased service provision to the football community, improvement in stakeholder relations as well as growth in participation and all aspects of community football, futsal, referee and coach development.  
 
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to serve Capital Football in the capacity of CEO, and would like to extend my thanks to Mark O’Neill as Chair of the Board for the trust placed in me,” Brown said of his appointment. “I would also like to acknowledge the significant achievements of Heather Reid, who has been instrumental in driving the popularity of football and futsal in the region.
 
“I very much look forward to working with the clubs, administrators and volunteers to continue to enhance and support the participation and development programs offered to Capital Football’s clubs, players, coaches and referees. I am humbled by the opportunity, and relish the challenge ahead.”
 
Phil Brown will attend a Member Federation and Hyundai A-League club meeting with Heather Reid at FFA offices on Monday 21st March and will also be in Canberra on Wednesday 30th March for Capital Football’s Annual General Meeting. 
 
Phil will be available to speak to the media and clubs when he attends the 2016 Season Launch on Thursday 31st March, further details to follow.
