Letter from new Football NSW Chairman Anter Isaac

FNSW_Board-012

I am pleased to advise our members and stakeholders, that the Board of Football NSW last night resolved what has been a complicated and prolonged constitutional issue relating to the composition of the Board.

There is agreement the error dates back to 2014.

The effort to resolve this particular matter, was not easy or straightforward. It required both internal and external efforts to ensure a transparent, sound, and justifiable resolution. A resolution which would reflect members’ previous voting outcomes and not incur further expense of members’ funds.

I am reassured by the efforts of all my fellow Directors in working towards an outcome that protected the organisation and importantly would not distract the membership from its endeavours in delivering the game across the community. The challenge faced by the Board has reminded each of the Directors of the importance of being measured, mature and respectful in our deliberations on behalf of the members and the game. It has focussed the Board’s attention on renewing a culture of respect and solidarity within the Football NSW family.

In particular, I want to publicly recognise Directors Mark Reading, Stephen Hayes, and Louie Apostolovski who offered themselves to be ‘appointed’ directors, to help in resolving the constitutional issue without any further delay. It was a selfless act on their part. This was acknowledged by my fellow Directors James Chetcuti, Chris Gardiner, Jeanette Jones and Rob Laws.

Chris and Rob are new members to the Board. They bring with them a mix of skills as Directors, as well as experience in the corporate and not for profit sectors. This is in addition to both having extensive involvement in football. The Board will now direct its focus on working for and with our member associations, member clubs and all football participants in NSW.

The Board elected Rob Laws as Deputy Chair and myself as Chair. This is an honour, but more importantly a serious responsibility for both Rob and I. One which we have not accepted lightly.

All of the Board is dedicated to providing a clear and collective commitment to lead, direct and oversee the growth and development of football. To support and service our members. To strengthen the capabilities of our members. And, to establish environments and frameworks that enable and encourage our members to grow and become even stronger drivers of this game.

Anter Isaac
