Football Community getting behind Chloe Osborn
Sometimes the hardest battles in football have to be fought off the field.
But when footballers are united in these battles, anything is possible.
Chloe Osborn is a member of the Granville Football Association based side Rouse Hill Rams Football Club, but a recent diagnosis of cancer has meant she can no longer play the sport she loves.
To help support her, Colours 4 Chloe Round will start this Friday night, at the The Hills Centenary Park (Commercial Rd Res) at Rouse Hill, with the Ram’s 0ver 35 Women’s kicking off a weekend of events.
"There are 18 team games being played at home [at The Hills Centenary Park] across this week’s round so that’s why the date was picked so that we could have an opportunity to get together to celebrate Chloe and raise some money to help her out," said Rouse Hill Ram’s representative Emma Ashley.
Chloe has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a tumour which attacked her spine and forced her to step away from playing football.
"It’s meant that she has lost a lot of her ability to move around and has had to undergo chemotherapy and will be having radiotherapy," said Emma.
"She’s a really active football, she was a ball girl at Western Sydney Wanderers last season and would attend all their games, even this season whenever she could."
‘Colours 4 Chloe Round’ will see raffles, wristbands and bandanas for sale at the ground across the weekend.
On Sunday 5th June the support will continue at The Hills Centenary Park with jumping castles, cake stalls and plenty more on offer for families.
Ashley stated that the funds will go towards Chloe’s battle.
"The money from the bandanas will go towards cancer charities."
"Any other money we raise from the activities of this weekend will be donated to Chloe’s family because her mum’s had to give up full-time work to look after her so her family is doing it tough."
All the girls that are taking part in matches will be wearing a pair of brightly coloured socks to show their support for Chloe.
Anyone else that wants to get involved can wear some bright socks to the games and make a donation. It’s all about the light, bright, colourful theme.
