Southern Districts Football Association were spreading the gospel according to football this week as various members along with local Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone, handed out football gear to kids and families in a fantastic initiative shown by the Association.

Tracksuits, water bottles and footballs were given to the lucky kids as well as parents with their new born babies as the association spread the football cheer amongst the many patients at Fairfield hospital.

Southern Districts FA’s Technical Director Rod Galic along with Women’s Technical Director Catherine Cannuli and Association Secretary Gino Marra were the key advocates of spreading this cheer promoting football right across their local community.

Galic stated the importance of community engagement within his local area with events such as these and promised that a visit to Liverpool Hospital was next on their agenda thanks to the work and efforts of Mayor Frank Carbone.

“Southern Districts FA is not just a football association as we want to share a message of community engagement and like to help any organization we can with donations of football equipment.

“Over the past few years we have donated to schools in the Southern Districts FA catchment area and have sponsored schools’ end of year assemblies with donations of academic and sporting excellence medals.

“The board of SDSFA have also been proactive in helping the association gain youth league and SAP licences to compete in the competitions run by Football NSW.

“In lieu of the trip to Fairfield Hospital, we will also be visiting Liverpool Hospital shortly with football donations to kids who are finding it difficult with various illness.

“It’s also great to hear that Mayor Carbone reiterated his plan to redevelop Fairfield markets into a complex of sporting excellence to cater for our growing football community, so big things are on the menu for football in the Southern Districts area.”
