Smiles shine at Special Needs School in Wagga
Over 20 Willans Hill School students enjoyed learning new football skills and scoring goals in Wagga Wagga as part of the Football NSW Regional roadshow last week.
Football NSW Community Development Officer Demelza Howard and Wagga Futsal Coordinator Sam Grey coached a special session for the school that involved a morning full of scoring goals, high 5’s and smiles all round.
Junior AP Janelle Urbanavicius was appreciative of the opportunity for the students to enjoy a morning of Football.
“It was a great opportunity for our kids to participate in, this is something they wouldn’t normally have access to.
“The kids really enjoyed receiving their backpacks and giveaways too.
"Football Wagga Wagga have a Football4all program run by Michael Standley that began in 2014 and keeps growing in numbers. Football4all Wagga Wagga focuses on participation through physical activity, player interaction, skill development and social inclusion.
Football NSW Community Game Development Officer Demelza Howard was lost for words upon seeing the many smiles on the kids’ faces after assisting with the roadshow.
“It was great to see the positive impact football can make to these players for only one session.
“A couple of players even mentioned that played in the Football4all Wagga Wagga program.
“The local news came down for the session too and will be shown on the news sometime this week.”
