Mentor program in full swing at Blacktown Association
Female football was the winner on Thursday 30th of March as local female players from various Blacktown & Districts Soccer Football Association (BDSFA) had an opportunity to meet some of the Blacktown Spartans PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s Senior Squad.
Culminating with this meeting, it was announced by Blacktown Spartans President Adam Coleman and BDSFA Director Lisa Thorn that the Spartans Women will play an important role in the development of Women’s football within BDSFA with providing mentoring for the girls as well as be Ambassadors for the BDSFA Clubs.
The Spartans Women’s team will be giving their time to these girls throughout the season, mentoring the girls, offering training tips, advice, and will also further foster the relationship between the Spartans and the BDSFA. BDSFA Director, Lisa Thorn believes that this program will help local girls achieve their aspirations in their football pursuits.
“Having the Spartans Senior Squad including the Westfield W-League listed players involved in this program will help the local girls not only reach their footballing aspirations, but also articulate to the girls that there is a clear pathway for them in Blacktown.”
The night also saw the Blacktown Spartans present their marquee signings from the Westfield W-League. Returning players Alix Roberts, Olivia Price and Patricia Charalambous will be joined this season by Gabe Marzano, Trudy Burke, Hannah Brewer, Nicola Bulger and Aliza Ammendolia.
Blacktown Spartans President Adam Coleman was thrilled with the direction the club was taking in further developing the women’s game within the area.
“It is great to have this calibre of players joining the Club.
“Andrew Mastoris our new Women’s First Grade Coach has worked tirelessly in the off season negotiating with the girls and has done a great job being able securing the ladies for our Club.
“There is a real buzz around the Club and the Spartans are moving in a new direction and players and coaches are supporting this, which is creating a great football environment as well as pride in wearing the Spartans colours.”
