Football a favourite at Disability Sports Day

Nepean Football Association and Football NSW teamed up to provide football skills and fun games to primary and high schools at Penrith Sports Stadium, Cambridge Park.

The Department for Education held the Multi-Sports Day for students with disabilities on Thursday for over 150 students participate in a variety of sports to encourage students to get involved in sport and physical activity. Cambridge Park Public School, The Ponds High School, Katoomba Public School, Mainsbridge School, Camden High School, Passfield Park School and other local schools were in attendance for the fun sports day.

James Rankine and Sharon Slender from Nepean Football Association came down on the day to help coach and connect schools to the Nepean Football Association’s Football4All program the Nepean Football Dragons.

Nepean Football Dragon’s Club coordinator Sharon Slender was surprised in the attendance of how many students there were from each school.

“It’s great to see the number of students that have turned up to enjoy football and get the most out of the day, I even noticed a few of the Nepean Dragons participants here participating”.

Football NSW Inclusion Game Development Officer Demelza Howard was delighted by the support from Nepean Football Association.

“It’s great to see Nepean Football and Football NSW teaming up on such a fantastic day for students to get involved in sport.

“I would like to give a big thanks to both James and Sharon for helping showcase how inclusive Football is.”
