Football NSW attended a Coach Workshop in Fairfield over the weekend aimed at educating coaches about Blind Football, the 5-a-side Paralympic version of blind football.

Over 25 participants and coaches attended the workshop on Saturday who were put in blindfolds to understand Blind Football is played.

The interactive workshop run by Blind Sports Australia welcomed community football coaches, Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) Futsal Coaches and Pararoos Head coach Kai Lammert. Blind Football players from Melbourne B1 Blind Football Club and Football NSW were also in attendance for coaches to educate coaches on how the game is played.

Football NSW Inclusion Game Development Officer, Demelza Howard was pleased with the attendance of Football NSW inclusion coaches and the quality of the players at the workshop.

“It was great to see a couple of our AWD Futsal League Coaches in attendance to further educate themselves to get the most out of their players for the upcoming season.

“I would like to thank David Connolly from Blind Sports Australia for inviting Football NSW and community football coaches to attend this fantastic workshop”.

Football NSW will be working with Blind Sports NSW in the upcoming months to further develop pathways for both B1 (legally blind players) and B2/B3 (vision impaired players) to play Football in NSW.
