Football comes together in act of generosity

It was a beautiful act of generosity when Sydney United 58 parent Nicole Taylor put out a call to arms to the parents of their Under 10’s SAP squad over the weekend when the club faced Sutherland Sharks in a friendly match at the Sydney United Sports Centre.

Nicole and the parents of the Under 10’s Sydney United 58 SAP squad got together on game day and raised an amazing $1800 towards ‘Levi’s Project’ – a former Sutherland Sharks youngster who passed away in 2018 from a rare brain tumour.

The youngster would have been the same age as the boys on Sunday which prompted Nicole and the United 58 parents to assist in raising money for Levi’s Project into research and support for kids with brain tumour.

Sydney United 58 Under 10’s SAP coach and former player Petar Markovic was overwhelmed with the kindness shown by the parents.

“One of our parents informed the group a few nights ago in our team chat about Levi’s story with the link (https://www.levisproject.org), and it touched all our hearts, a lot of teary emojis and generous parents.

“A very humble group I’m proud to work with.

“I don’t have kids yet, but having coached many kids, in particular this age, I can’t imagine losing a child so young, without hesitation, we were all quick to donate and we managed to raise a total of $1800 in a day from my under 10s team.”

Well done to all involved, it’s great to share these nice news pieces thanks to the power of our game.
